Note: Not all essential oil brands are the same, and you get what you pay for. If you expect to achieve results similar to those described in this testimonial, then ensure that you are using oils from pesticide-free plants. Also, the brand should use 100% pure, high-quality essential oils that do not contain any synthetic additives. Do your own research or ask a trusted friend to find a brand that is reputable. Buyer beware.

It has been 10 years now since I found these wonderful Young Living oils, and my home apothecary continues to expand. Having acquired a respiratory vulnerability from seasons of wilderness cooking over campfire (tons of creosote in the lungs/sinuses), I was ecstatic to find a way to alleviate symptoms!

Gone was the cold, sniffles and cough in record time. Instead of months of bronchitis, I got it down to a week or two. When symptoms showed up in the fall I was all over it with the oils and often it went away before it started. And I considered this a win.

But something happened.

Two winters ago, I got chronic bronchitis, which turned into pneumonia. This was embedded deep in my lungs, with a virus and bacteria providing the perfect veil, confusing the immune system response and confounding me. It took months to decode. And yet months more to get better. I was demolished, exhausted and thinking to myself, "I have all this good stuff, and still no result".

The following winter, the fingers of bronchitis and pneumonia threatened to pull me down again for months while I doctored aggressively every day, and still felt exhausted and crappy. It was no way to live.

Please be assured, this is not about the oils. It's more about how I made use of them.

The body is wisely designed to unburden itself of common wastes and toxins as the seasons change, in the spring and in the fall. This is a necessary and vital function that must be allowed to happen. To thwart it is to court a whole other outcome, especially in the setting of food allergies or other health challenges that tax the body systems.

So this year I coaxed the detox by eating fresh apples every day, apple cider at night, no caffeine, sugar, light foods and finally it came. The fall flush of gunk finding its way out of the body. Embrace the snot!

I believe it was Dr. Hill who commented that the toxins released from a single cold or flu contain the seeds of 8 or more future illnesses. That's my ad lib version, perhaps someone else can clarify?

Nonetheless, I had this thought to let the detox begin, and then support myself through it. No need to suffer or prolong the symptoms. I use the Neti pot to irrigate the sinuses, the Young Living oils to help move congestion and reduce infection (including the Inner Defense blend) or raise vibration (the emotional blends). So far, so good. It appears to be working. And along with it a sense of lightness.

Numerous cultures subscribe to seasonal detox regimens such as the Ayurvedic system, German ancestry, etc and if you've read any of Gary Young's research, many of the indigenous people allowed their bodies to unburden seasonally as well with nutritional fasts and such. That's a lot of wisdom to consider.

For now, I'll just continue along my little way. If you're interested to see how the winter evolves feel free to be in touch.

Wishing you deep and everlasting wellness with essential oils!
