Note: Not all essential oil brands are the same, and you get what you pay for. If you expect to achieve results similar to those described in this testimonial, then ensure that you are using oils from pesticide-free plants. Also, the brand should use 100% pure, high-quality essential oils that do not contain any synthetic additives. Do your own research or ask a trusted friend to find a brand that is reputable. Buyer beware.

Recently, one of my molars which previously I had a root canal treatment was diagnosed as having a ruptured root and an infection in the gum. In fact, when the oral surgeon evaluated the tooth in July, 2012 pus oozed out from the gum area.

Needless to say, I was concerned about this development as I only use non-fluoride toothpastes such as those from Young Living Essential Oils. Given my age, 60, I accepted that it was finally time for this tooth to go and scheduled the extraction for September, the earliest appointment that worked with my schedule.

Meanwhile, I had to deal with the infected tooth and gum area so I started rubbing the Thieves essential oil blend on the gum area twice a day and then rinsing my mouth with a little water. Within one day, the area started to feel better and within two days, my gum above the infected tooth was no longer puffy! I continued to use Thieves a few times a week to keep the area healed.

I just had the tooth extracted two days ago and have not experienced hardly any discomfort even the first day. I was told that the area could become more painful and swollen on the third or fourth day after the procedure, but this has not occurred! I attribute this speedy recovery to my use of Thieves which must have kept the external and internal gum area free from all bacteria.

I continue to swish a couple of drops of Thieves in water around my mouth to help the extracted area continue to heal properly. I am so grateful to have these oils in my life!

1.Associated topics: abscessed-tooth — Study 1: "[Oil pulling] would benefit the general population by giving more confidence in the ancient practices, thus preventing tooth decay and loss." Study 2: "Oil pulling therapy has been equally effective like chlorhexidine on halitosis and organisms, associated with halitosis." Study 3: "The oil pulling therapy showed a reduction in the plaque index, modified gingival scores, and total colony count of aerobic microorganisms in the plaque of adolescents with plaque-induced gingivitis." Study 4: "Oil pulling can be used as an effective preventive adjunct in maintaining and improving oral health." Study 5: "The myth that the effect of oil-pulling therapy on oral health was just a placebo effect has been broken, and there are clear indications of possible saponification and emulsification process, which enhances its mechanical cleaning action."Link
2.Associated topics: abscessed-tooth — "Both clove and benzocaine gels had significantly lower mean pain scores than placebos. No significant difference was observed between clove and benzocaine regarding pain scores. Clove gel might possess a potential to replace benzocaine as a topical [anesthetic] agent before needle insertion."Link
