Note: Not all essential oil brands are the same, and you get what you pay for. If you expect to achieve results similar to those described in this testimonial, then ensure that you are using oils from pesticide-free plants. Also, the brand should use 100% pure, high-quality essential oils that do not contain any synthetic additives. Do your own research or ask a trusted friend to find a brand that is reputable. Buyer beware.

I purchased a thirteen year old teak table and chair set from my sister and brother-in-law this summer when they upgraded to a more contemporary glass and metal outdoor set. It was evident that the wood set had not been cleaned or oiled for several years.

After doing a little research on how to clean teak, I discovered that the silver-gray coloration that occurs in the wood is actually mold! Everything I read recommended a special teak cleaner that contained a chemical used to kill the mold.

I had recently read Dr. Close's protocol for cleaning mold out of homes using Thieves Cleaner, so I decided to give it a try on the teak.

I put the cleaner in a spray bottle and diluted it partially with water. I sprayed the cleaner onto the wood and used a variety of cleaning brushes to scrub the mold away. Some spots that were particularly "dirty" took a second spraying/scrubbing, but the Thieves Cleaner did a beautiful, thorough job.

After all the pieces were cleaned I oiled the set and now they look like new!
