Note: Not all essential oil brands are the same, and you get what you pay for. If you expect to achieve results similar to those described in this testimonial, then ensure that you are using oils from pesticide-free plants. Also, the brand should use 100% pure, high-quality essential oils that do not contain any synthetic additives. Do your own research or ask a trusted friend to find a brand that is reputable. Buyer beware.

Fever blister, cold sore or whatever you want to call them. I get them, and hate them. I get them at two times: whenever I am under a large stress load, or when I am out in the sun too much. Fortunately, I usually only am bothered with them once a year or so.

But oh my goodness they are PAINFUL, oozing and ugly. Once that first tingling and swelling appears, I know I am toast and am in for a week or two of a nasty, painful look. I get the itching, burning and tingling sensations. My lip gets so swollen I talk a little weird, and the oozing crusties, well, let's not go there.

Well, this time when the tell-tale signs started to appear, I grabbed my essential oils reference book to see what the Young Living oil protocol might be. Yes! There was something! Actually, a good amount of information was available. What I chose to do was to apply Purification, neat right to the affected area and I could do this 5-10 times daily. I remembered 3 or 4 times daily and it arrested the sore and never blistered, oozed or got painful! After 4 days, it was not even an issue. What a relief!!

Purification contains: Citronella (Cymbopogon nardus), Lemongrass (Cymbopogon flexuosus), Rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis), Melaleuca (Melaleuca Alternifolia) lavandin (Lavandula x hybrida), and Myrtle (Myrtus communis).

Purification can be used directly on the skin to cleanse and soothe insect bites, cuts, and scrapes. When diffused, it helps to purify and cleanse the air from environmental impurities including cigarette smoke and other disagreeable odors.

Whew and I am so thankful for the all-natural healing properties of these oils that God has put on earth!

Supporting Scientific Studies
1.Associated topics: cold-sores-/-fever-blisters — "The presence of beta-caryophyllene in many essential oils might contribute strongly to their antiviral ability. These results indicate that phenylpropanoids and sesquiterpenes present in essential oils contribute to their antiviral activity against HSV [herpes simplex virus]."Link
2.Associated topics: stress-/-tension-/-burnout — "After inhalation of clary sage oil, cortisol levels were significantly decreased.... Thyroid stimulating hormone was also reduced.... Clary sage oil has antidepressant-like effect...."Link
3.Associated topics: stress-/-tension-/-burnout — "Lavender, mint [peppermint], orange, rose, chamomile, rosemary, and sage were used.... Depression levels in the touch-music-aroma therapy group... showed a larger decrease than in the... control groups [that did not include aromatherapy].... [FMS] symptoms such as restless sleep, headache, morning fatigue, exhaustion, feeling like crying, and bowel complaints were also significantly reduced."Link
4.Associated topics: swelling-/-swollen-/-puffy — "[W]e studied the anti-inflammatory and gastroprotective effects of C. citratus [Lemongrass] and E. citriodora [Lemon Eucalyptus] essential oils on formol-induced edema and acetic acid induced abdominal cramps in Wistar rats.... In vivo analysis and histological assay showed that the two essential oils displayed significant dose-dependent edema [swelling] inhibition effect over time. They displayed strong analgesic [pain-relieving] and antipyretic [fever-reducing] properties similar to that induced by 50 mg/kg of acetylsalicylate of lysine.... This work demonstrates the anti-inflammatory property of Cymbopogon citratus [Lemongrass] and Eucalyptus citriodora [Lemon Eucalyptus], suggesting their potential role as adjuvant therapeutic alternatives in dealing with inflammatory-related diseases."Link
5.Associated topics: stress-/-tension-/-burnout — "A number of essential oils are currently in use as aromatherapy agents to relieve anxiety, stress, and depression. Popular anxiolytic oils include lavender (Lavandula angustifolia), rose (Rosa damascena), orange (Citrus sinensis), bergamot (Citrus aurantium), lemon (Citrus limon), sandalwood (Santalum album), clary sage (Salvia sclarea), Roman chamomile (Anthemis nobilis), and rose-scented geranium (Pelargonium spp.)."Link
6.Associated topics: stress-/-tension-/-burnout — "Most studies, as well as clinically applied experience, have indicated that various essential oils, such as lavender, lemon and bergamot can help to relieve stress, anxiety, depression and other mood disorders. Most notably, inhalation of essential oils can communicate signals to the olfactory system and stimulate the brain to exert neurotransmitters (e.g. serotonin and dopamine), thereby further regulating mood."Link
7.Associated topics: stress-/-tension-/-burnout — "The ylang ylang oil caused a significant decrease of blood pressure and a significant increase of skin temperature. At the behavioral level, subjects in the ylang ylang oil group rated themselves more calm and more relaxed than subjects in the control group. These findings are likely to represent a relaxing effect of the ylang ylang oil and provide some evidence for the usage of the ylang ylang oil in aromatherapy such as causing a relief of depression and stress in humans."Link
8.Associated topics: stress-/-tension-/-burnout — "Lavender essential oil has been used as an anxiolytic [anxiety] drug, a mood stabilizer, a sedative, spasmolytic [muscle spasms], antihypertensive [high blood pressure], antimicrobial, analgesic [pain] agent as well as a wound healing accelerator.... The present study suggests that inhalation of lavender essential oil may be an effective and safe treatment modality in acute management of migraine headaches."Link
