I've told this story over and over for the past couple of years, now thanks to this website I can pass it on to many others.
My husband has several health issues. One is that his iron levels go very low and he becomes extremely anemic. Before I met him, he had several blood transfusions to revitalize his blood. He also has a complicated blood system, where it takes 3 days to make his blood, due to him needing so many antibodies in his blood.
A couple of years ago, he had quite a bit going on and had an appointment at the Mayo Clinic 7 hours north of where we lived. However, his local doctor needed him to have a transfusion before he went up there. His iron level was at a 3 which is very very low. Urgency was an understatement.
The local hospital did not get the order in time to make it, so the Mayo Clinic said that when he came up there to be willing to stay a few extra days so they could do the transfusion then.
We were still dating at the time, and he was not totally sold on all this "oil business". Traditional doctors had worked fine for him. However, I asked him to take a spoonful of NingXia Red juice every morning until we went to the Mayo Clinic. The appointment was five days away.
He agreed reluctantly after I told him, if nothing else, it would make him feel better in the short run. So after 1 teaspoon a day for 5 days, we found ourselves in the doctors office getting ready for the transfusion.
The doctor had already had the blood drawn and was looking at the results and told us both that he is not sure what happened in the last few days, but checking both reports 1 week apart, Kevin's blood levels were all at normal numbers.
No transfusion was needed and he has not had one since. I was shocked, to say the least, but truly happy.
The hubby is happy too!
