Note: Not all essential oil brands are the same, and you get what you pay for. If you expect to achieve results similar to those described in this testimonial, then ensure that you are using oils from pesticide-free plants. Also, the brand should use 100% pure, high-quality essential oils that do not contain any synthetic additives. Do your own research or ask a trusted friend to find a brand that is reputable. Buyer beware.

My husband has had a problem with cold sores frequently since he was a child. We narrowed it down to pineapple, some of the more acidic fruits and stress. Of course he tries to stay away from what we know causes the cold sores.

However on vacation to Mexico, a bartender had added pineapple juice to his orange juice one morning. And within 2 hours of drinking the pineapple/orange juice combination, he could feel the tingling sensation of a cold sore coming on.

I always travel with my oils and the essential oils reference book. You just never know what can happen when you are out of the US and I would rather be prepared naturally, to use the oils for anything that may come our way.

I looked up cold sores and found that the oil of choice was Melissa and had it with me. He rubbed a few drops of Melissa on the cold sore 3 times the first day, then went to 2 times the following day. And then the cold sore was gone.

Prior to our family using therapeutic grade essential oils, his doctor would prescribe him a medication which cost $196 for only 3 pills, one pill to be taken three consecutive days in a row, which in other words was $196 for one cold sore treatment.

Thank you for Melissa Therapeutic Grade Essential Oil. You have save our family a lot of money and we have the opportunity to treat this problem - NATURALLY!

Supporting Scientific Studies
1.Associated topics: herpes,cold-sores-/-fever-blisters — "The presence of beta-caryophyllene in many essential oils might contribute strongly to their antiviral ability. These results indicate that phenylpropanoids and sesquiterpenes present in essential oils contribute to their antiviral activity against HSV [herpes simplex virus]."Link
2.Associated topics: herpes — "The patient was successfully treated with topical peppermint oil [for postherpetic neuralgia, a complication of shingles].... The authors believe this is the first evidence of peppermint oil (or menthol) having a strong analgesic effect on neuropathic pain."Link
3.Associated topics: herpes — "Essential oils from anise, hyssop, thyme, ginger, camomile and sandalwood were screened for their inhibitory effect against herpes simplex virus type 2 (HSV-2) [genital herpes]. A clearly dose-dependent virucidal activity against HSV-2 could be demonstrated for all essential oils tested. Chamomile oil exhibited a high selectivity index and seems to be a promising candidate for topical therapeutic application as virucidal agents for treatment of herpes genitalis."Link
