Note: Not all essential oil brands are the same, and you get what you pay for. If you expect to achieve results similar to those described in this testimonial, then ensure that you are using oils from pesticide-free plants. Also, the brand should use 100% pure, high-quality essential oils that do not contain any synthetic additives. Do your own research or ask a trusted friend to find a brand that is reputable. Buyer beware.

I had the beginnings of a bladder and kidney infection so phoned three doctors. One was not taking new patients, another was open at different hours and days, and the other was booked out. I needed to do something quickly ASAP. Cranberry juice was a start. I also started back onto more alkalizing foods and increased fluids.

When I had described my symptoms of bladder infection, thrush and aching kidneys to a friend, she suggested ingesting Young Living Essential Oils in a veggie capsule to help to return me to wellness. She had used this regime of essential oils like antibiotics many times over successfully.

So on this occasion I followed her favourite recipe. In each 00 veggie cap I placed 12 drops of the Thieves oil blend, 6 drops of Oregano oil, and 2 drops of Frankincense oil.

I found these antibiotic-like oils effective for what felt like a severe urinary tract infection, aching kidneys, and vaginal thrush. (I did some other things for the treatment of the thrush with essential oils.) The symptoms in my bladder and kidneys were familiar to me and I had taken a double course of antibiotics in previous outbreaks.

After taking antibiotics in the past, I have always had a nasty bout of thrush, and had previously needed to replace, or pep up my bowel flora with a supplement of probiotics.

I found that my digestion can tolerate antibiotic-like oils. I took them with half to three fourths cup of canola free oat or rice milk before, after or between meals. I increased my fluids, included cranberry juice, and took the antibiotic-like oils capsules, three hourly on the 1st day and through the night.

Usually four hours between doses was fine, I was told, but because I was concerned about the severity of the symptoms, I took them every three hours. Day two I took them each four hours. Day three each six hours, and then spread them out over the next 10 days. I wanted wellness again! I was impressed with the symptoms waning by twenty four hours and grateful.

I also placed oils on my bladder and kidney areas. Initially with three drops of each of the following oils, reducing to one drop each; Frankincense, the Melrose oil blend, Fennel, Sage and Peppermint. I would apply a towel soaked in hot water, wrung out, twice daily for the first three days.

I found my symptoms eased dramatically with this combined approach at the end of 24 hours. I continued for ten days to be really sure.

A urine test with a doctor later confirmed all was well!

Supporting Scientific Studies
1.Associated topics: acidic-/-alkaline-/-pH-balance — "Gastroprotective effects of Lemon essential oil: In ethanol model, CL (citrus lemon) and LIM (limonene) [component of Lemon] demonstrated 100% of gastroprotection.... In the indomethacin model, CL and LIM offered effective gastroprotection...."Link
2.Associated topics: antibiotic — "As proven in vitro, essential oils [Eucalyptus, Melaleuca Alternifolia, Thyme, Lavender, Lemon, Lemongrass, Cinnamon, Grapefruit, Clove, Sandalwood, Peppermint, Sage] represent a cheap and effective antiseptic topical treatment option even for antibiotic-resistant strains [such] as MRSA and antimycotic [antifungal]-resistant Candida species."Link
3.Associated topics: bladder,bladder-infection-(cystitis) — "[Tea tree (melaleuca alternifolia)] oil has been found effective in chronic cystitis."Link
4.Associated topics: kidneys — "Many plant extracts that protect against the development of oxidative stress manifest clear antilithiasic activity [preventing the formation of or relieving the symptoms of kidney stones].... Evidence obtained to date supports a contributory role of polyphenols [present in essential oils] in the prevention of cardiovascular disease, some cancer types, and osteoporosis.... The results show an improvement of the renal function in some treated groups with an increase of diuresis and creatinine excretion due to polyphenols pretreatment. Our results clearly validate the ability of polyphenols to protect against papillary calcification of kidney tissue, consequently preventing the development of papillary calculi [kidney stones].... The collective findings to date support a protective effect of polyphenols on kidney tissue. Thus, considering that injury of papillary tissue constitutes the first step in the development of COM papillary calculi, the antioxidant action of polyphenols may contribute significantly to their antilithiasic action."Link
5.Associated topics: bladder — "Frankincense oil appears to distinguish cancerous from normal bladder cells and suppress cancer cell viability. Microarray and bioinformatics analysis proposed multiple pathways that can be activated by frankincense oil to induce bladder cancer cell death. Frankincense oil might represent an alternative intravesical agent for bladder cancer treatment."Link
