Deer flies no longer come close to my husband

My family went 4 wheeling in the northern woods. The kids and myself had put on some Thieves Spray to repel bugs. The deer flies were terrible. We set out for the day and stopped to take a break in a clearing of the woods, my husband was complaining about the deer flies bothering him.

I said you should have put on Thieves. I found some in my pocket and he told me to spray him. (being not such a believer) a couple minutes went by and my husband said, 'Hey they are not bothering me anymore!'
