Killing insects with essential oils

I was cleaning my basement last week and discovered an infestation of insects that looked like mosquitos, but did not fly. After searching, I discovered that they were coming from a crack in the basement wall. I informed my husband who checked out the situation an hour later, only to discover that the situation had gotten out of control. There were hundreds of insects crawling out of this 4 inch crack!

He asked me if I had any oils to spray, so I checked my reference guide and did not have what was recommended for insecticide. Then, I remembered what I had learned: use what you have. So, I used my Thieves cleaner that was mixed with water and sprayed the area. In the meantime, my husband was so nervous that he ran to 3 of our neighbor's houses to get some bug spray.

By the time he returned all of the insects were dead and they stopped crawling out of that crack. What a pleasant surprise- that we could address this problem without the use of toxic chemicals. Thanks, Young Living!
