Cold sores apparently are caused by the HSV-1 (Herpes Simplex Virus type 1)
I had a nasty cold sore in the corner of my mouth and another one about to grow on the other side. I tried the recommended Thieves oil blend and Lavender oil. I also added Wintergreen, a bit of Peppermint and even the PanAway oil blend.
What really helped was the capsules I took with 2-6 drops of Oregano, Clove and Peppermint, this nailed the virus (above) within hours! Tackling things of this nature inside and outside is most rewarding, trust me it works! Don't be afraid to go further than just using the essential oils reference book as a guide.
Oregano is top notch as an anti-viral and many more.
