Note: Not all essential oil brands are the same, and you get what you pay for. If you expect to achieve results similar to those described in this testimonial, then ensure that you are using oils from pesticide-free plants. Also, the brand should use 100% pure, high-quality essential oils that do not contain any synthetic additives. Do your own research or ask a trusted friend to find a brand that is reputable. Buyer beware.

I was in the backyard away from the house when I twisted my ankle by miscalculating a hole in the yard. The excruciating pain that followed was quickly quelled after my husband ran to get the Peppermint.

I tore off the top, yanked out the stopper and just poured the Peppermint all over my ankle on both sides, while gently massaging it. Within seconds the pain was gone!

He took me to the doctors office, where they quite quickly x-rayed my ankle to make sure nothing was broken. After examining my x-ray he concluded I tore several ligaments and of course, the doctor wanted to write me a prescription for pain.

He knew from past experience with me I was into natural solutions and used only therapeutic-grade essential oils if I have anything to say about it. I gave in when he made me agree to take Ibuprofen or Advil for pain.

I kept my leg raised, used ice compresses and several oils for any pain. I have to say the oils completely alleviated any pain I may have had. I didn't give the pain a chance to rear it's ugly head.

One week later I was tooling around on a wheeled chair (not a wheelchair) while kneeling on one knee and pushing off with my other foot. My ankle turned yellow and swelled up, but at least did not turn black and blue.

While I was at a company event in Birch Run, Michigan (this was 1 week later), I talked to a lot of people about what to do. Everyone but one person said the same thing to do keep doing that which I was already doing.

That one person suggested I use Balsam Fir essential oil, not only on the ankle but ingest it too. So okay, under the tongue and on the ankle several times at the event and that night at home. I also diffused it while I was sleeping.

The next day I started putting weight on my foot, and the following day I was walking again. Now the doctor said it would be 3-4 weeks before he wanted me to even put any weight on that foot.

It's now 2 weeks later and I'm doing quite well. I'm not doing my low impact aerobics yet, but I am walking a couple miles 3 times a week.

The oils I am still using (I would use several at a time, alternating oils throughout the day):

* Peppermint several drops for pain on the ankle
* Frankincense several drops under the tongue 6 times a day
* Copaiba several drops under the tongue 6 times a day

On the ankle:

A few drops each of Basil, Bergamot, German Chamomile, Roman Chamomile, Cinnamon Bark, Clary Sage, Hyssop, Myrrh, Spearmint, Spikenard, Tarragon, Idaho Tansy, the PanAway oil blend, Peppermint, Wintergreen, the Valor oil blend, Pine, Balsam Fir, Cypress, the Deep Relief oil blend, Lemongrass and Marjoram mixed together.

I used a few drops each of Clove, Lavender, Mountain Savory and Thyme together.

I applied a few drops each of Palo Santo, the RC oil blend, Eucalyptus Globulus, Helichrysum using Ortho Sport and Ortho Ease Massage Oil to help keep my skin from drying out too much from all the oils.

Oils used on my brain stem several times a day included:

A few drops each of Oregano, Nutmeg, Lemongrass, Melaleuca Ericifolia, Dill and Peppermint.

Supplements taken in these dosages for 4 weeks to completely repair, rejuvenate and strengthen the ankle ligaments:

* AgilEase - 8 per day throughout the day
* Sulfurzyme - 10 per day throughout the day
* OmegaGize - 8 per day throughout the day
* NingXia Red juice - 8 ounces per day throughout the day
* Mineral Essence - 10 drops per day with the NingXia Red
* Super Cal - 10 per day throughout the day.

Food I ingested at least once a day:

I drank a scoop of each - Power Meal and Pure Protein Complete.

AND WATER!! MY WEIGHT IN OUNCES, yes that's right, my weight in ounces not 1/2 my weight in ounces. This alone will help with hydration and get the oils and supplements moving so they can do their job.

Obviously, everyone may not be as well stocked as I am, so any of the above oils will do. I literally threw the book at my ankle. Of course some oils are better than others, and some like Palo Santo, I just happened to still have from the 2009 Convention.

Hope this helps anyone that ever has any inflammation issues due to an injury. I found there's absolutely no excuse not to use the oils. The more the better. I didn't just use a drop or two, I used a lot of drops of the oils.

I probably put a couple dozen drops on my ankle with each application. I also used an elastic bandage to hold the ice on my ankle which was covered with a sock to protect the skin.

Just for reference, you can find most of this in the essential oils reference book and under Ligaments and/or Muscles.

helichrysum-oil - "...its flowers and leaves are the most used parts in the treatment of health disorders such as allergies, colds, cough, skin, liver and gallbladder disorders, inflammation, infections and sleeplessness... In vitro studies characterized Helichrysum as an antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory agent. Its flavonoids and terpenes were effective against bacteria (e.g. Staphylococcus aureus), its acetophenones, phloroglucinols and terpenoids displayed antifungal action against Candida albicans and its flavonoids and phloroglucinols inhibited HSV and HIV, respectively.... Regarding Helichrysum italicum in vivo activity, the highlight goes to ...the anti-inflammatory properties exhibited by its flavonoids, acetophenones and phloroglucinols, as seen in animal models."Link
