Note: Not all essential oil brands are the same, and you get what you pay for. If you expect to achieve results similar to those described in this testimonial, then ensure that you are using oils from pesticide-free plants. Also, the brand should use 100% pure, high-quality essential oils that do not contain any synthetic additives. Do your own research or ask a trusted friend to find a brand that is reputable. Buyer beware.

I had just attended a very informative evening on the value and stories behind some essential oils. My mind was stimulated and I treasured my gift of some Frankincense resin from Oman, the 70 km long drive home seemed to take forever, I was ready for sleep.

But that all changed when I stepped in the door. I had uninvited visitors who obviously thought that their ideal love shack was my humble abode on my lounge room floor! I was now fully wide awake! What should I do? They were oblivious to my presence, so entwined they were with each other. If I broke the spell they may turn on me.

I must have evidence of this invasion of my privacy. My camera was handy so silently I snapped a few shots. Now that I had evidence I slipped outside to the shed to find a suitable tool with which to defend or attack, but when I came back they had separated and were headed up to my bedroom. How rude of them!

I stayed in the shadows and waited about an hour until they eventually left via different exits. Whew!! Now I could get some sleep.

The next day, I googled "snake repellent" and found they dislike Clove and Cinnamon oils. So from my collection of wonderful essential oils, I mixed a few drops each of those 2 oils with some water in a spray bottle ready.

Evening came and I spied some beady eyes about to enter where he/she left last night through a hole in the skirting board. I rushed over and said "No you don't" and I sprayed, with my ammunition of Clove and Cinnamon oils. Sitting quietly again, a few minutes later, it's mate poked it's head from the other exit it had taken last night, I responded the same way with my spray.

You can imagine I was very alert and super sensitive to any minute sound as I did not know whether the influence of the essential oils would hinder them to make another entry attempt when I wasn't looking.

Aha, I heard a sound! Looking over to my gas stove there was a 15cm or so of vertical snake poking up out of my stove cook-top looking like a periscope taking a view to see if it was all clear.

I couldn't help but laugh it was such a comical site, however I quickly told it the same as the others and released my "territory spray" and of course it withdrew. I did not see them again that evening and for the next few days at dusk I sprayed those areas with the Clove and Cinnamon and they haven't been back.

High quality essential oils are so versatile, I use them for so many things and now I have another use as a snake repellent.

By the way my "visitors" were Brown Tree snakes, which are poisonous and they were both about 1.5 metres long.
