Note: Not all essential oil brands are the same, and you get what you pay for. If you expect to achieve results similar to those described in this testimonial, then ensure that you are using oils from pesticide-free plants. Also, the brand should use 100% pure, high-quality essential oils that do not contain any synthetic additives. Do your own research or ask a trusted friend to find a brand that is reputable. Buyer beware.

I don't get these very often but when I do they are extremely painful, they blister and my glands swell. I'm lethargic and they last for 10 - 14 days! I hate them.

I woke up with a large cold sore recently, but not yet blistered. I have medicine from the doctor that I could have used, but thought instead I would try the natural approach.

I applied the Thieves oil blend full strength to the cold sore about 7x that first day and the next day it was GONE.

The only thing that happened was the Thieves dried out my lip because I used it neat, so I had a chapped lip for a day but now all is GOOD.

Oh yeah, I also took a Young Living blend called Inner Defense which contains the Thieves oils among others in a capsule.

Supporting Scientific Studies
1.Associated topics: herpes,cold-sores-/-fever-blisters — "The presence of beta-caryophyllene in many essential oils might contribute strongly to their antiviral ability. These results indicate that phenylpropanoids and sesquiterpenes present in essential oils contribute to their antiviral activity against HSV [herpes simplex virus]."Link
2.Associated topics: herpes — "The patient was successfully treated with topical peppermint oil [for postherpetic neuralgia, a complication of shingles].... The authors believe this is the first evidence of peppermint oil (or menthol) having a strong analgesic effect on neuropathic pain."Link
3.Associated topics: herpes — "Essential oils from anise, hyssop, thyme, ginger, camomile and sandalwood were screened for their inhibitory effect against herpes simplex virus type 2 (HSV-2) [genital herpes]. A clearly dose-dependent virucidal activity against HSV-2 could be demonstrated for all essential oils tested. Chamomile oil exhibited a high selectivity index and seems to be a promising candidate for topical therapeutic application as virucidal agents for treatment of herpes genitalis."Link
