Note: Not all essential oil brands are the same, and you get what you pay for. If you expect to achieve results similar to those described in this testimonial, then ensure that you are using oils from pesticide-free plants. Also, the brand should use 100% pure, high-quality essential oils that do not contain any synthetic additives. Do your own research or ask a trusted friend to find a brand that is reputable. Buyer beware.

A couple of years ago, I discovered a rash on my side that was excruciatingly painful to the touch. A friend in the medical field took a look, and told me I had shingles.

I went to my Essential Oil Desk Reference, and found that Thieves can be effective to treat shingles, so I gave it a shot.

I applied a few drops of the Thieves oil blend neat on the rash, and after a minute of serious stinging, it began to feel better. By the next morning, things looked about 50% better.

I kept applying a few drops of Thieves each day, and after a week's time, the shingles were practically gone! All that remained was some pale pink spots that quickly faded.

I estimate that this most effective method of treating shingles cost me less than a dollar!!

Supporting Scientific Studies
1.Associated topics: herpes — "The presence of beta-caryophyllene in many essential oils might contribute strongly to their antiviral ability. These results indicate that phenylpropanoids and sesquiterpenes present in essential oils contribute to their antiviral activity against HSV [herpes simplex virus]."Link
2.Associated topics: neuralgia, herpes, shingles — "The patient was successfully treated with topical peppermint oil [for postherpetic neuralgia, a complication of shingles].... The authors believe this is the first evidence of peppermint oil (or menthol) having a strong analgesic effect on neuropathic pain."Link
3.Associated topics: herpes — "Essential oils from anise, hyssop, thyme, ginger, camomile and sandalwood were screened for their inhibitory effect against herpes simplex virus type 2 (HSV-2) [genital herpes]. A clearly dose-dependent virucidal activity against HSV-2 could be demonstrated for all essential oils tested. Chamomile oil exhibited a high selectivity index and seems to be a promising candidate for topical therapeutic application as virucidal agents for treatment of herpes genitalis."Link
