Note: Not all essential oil brands are the same, and you get what you pay for. If you expect to achieve results similar to those described in this testimonial, then ensure that you are using oils from pesticide-free plants. Also, the brand should use 100% pure, high-quality essential oils that do not contain any synthetic additives. Do your own research or ask a trusted friend to find a brand that is reputable. Buyer beware.

I received this email from a client of mine last week. Her nine year old daughter came down with shingles! I mixed up a blend of Melaleuca, Geranium and Lavender oil for her and sent her home with it.

I told her she might want to dilute it with some olive oil or other veggie oil since her daughter is young. She wrote back and said that she put it on the first time full-strength and afterwards she diluted it. Thought you'd like to see this:
I've been meaning to email you to let you know how amazing that oil mix was for the little girl. It was literally the next day that the rash started to reduce and dry out - from bubbling angry red to almost gone by the next week!

She's probably only going to have one little scar area - and you should have seen this nasty rash. The doctor said it was one of the more severe cases they had seen.

Wow, thanks again to the essential oils!

Supporting Scientific Studies
1.Associated topics: herpes — "The presence of beta-caryophyllene in many essential oils might contribute strongly to their antiviral ability. These results indicate that phenylpropanoids and sesquiterpenes present in essential oils contribute to their antiviral activity against HSV [herpes simplex virus]."Link
2.Associated topics: neuralgia, herpes, shingles — "The patient was successfully treated with topical peppermint oil [for postherpetic neuralgia, a complication of shingles].... The authors believe this is the first evidence of peppermint oil (or menthol) having a strong analgesic effect on neuropathic pain."Link
3.Associated topics: herpes — "Essential oils from anise, hyssop, thyme, ginger, camomile and sandalwood were screened for their inhibitory effect against herpes simplex virus type 2 (HSV-2) [genital herpes]. A clearly dose-dependent virucidal activity against HSV-2 could be demonstrated for all essential oils tested. Chamomile oil exhibited a high selectivity index and seems to be a promising candidate for topical therapeutic application as virucidal agents for treatment of herpes genitalis."Link
