Our Labrador Retriever has severe allergies in the summer, causing him to chew and lick his feet, and scratch excessively. To treat this, I began by mixing Lavender oil half and half with vegetable oil. I applied a few drops between the pads of his four feet, as well as to the inside and outside of his ears. (I took care not to get any oil inside his ear canals.) Once I found that he tolerated the Lavender oil well, I began to use it full strength.
When the dog's allergies are bad and he knows I am going to apply the oil, he wags his tail and lies down near me on the floor. When I'm finished applying the oil, he just relaxes and goes to sleep. It works so well!
