I recently participated in some training with other aroma therapists who shared that they didn't use their oils every day. A couple of them actually missed the last two days of this special seminar because they were sick with respiratory issues themselves.
I was surprised that they didn't use essential oils preventatively, but there are some schools of thought that daily use of oils can lead to de-sensitization, so they were not in the habit as I have been.
In spite of the fact that I came down with a respiratory infection myself, I found that using my essential oils was invaluable. The infection started in my chest which was very unusual for me, and felt more serious than upper respiratory infections that I've had in the past so I was drawn to taking oils internally right away.
Since I have used oils internally before, I put 5-6 drops of Frankincense in a capsule with 4-5 drops of the Thieves oil blend on the first day (taking this twice, 12 hrs apart) and then 3-5 drops each of Thyme and Oregano on the next day (again, one capsule, 12 hrs apart).
And I continued this for about 5 days, alternating the choice of oils. I also drank a few ounces of NingXia Red juice each day and took my daily Longevity capsule.
In addition, at night I used some Pine oil on my chest with the RC oil blend and a heat pack to drive the oils deeper into my chest. I also learned of 3 other people with a similar kind of lower respiratory infection (the same week) who, after a few days of this, went to their doctors for antibiotics.
I could literally FEEL the oils helping me every day and I know I would have felt worse without them. All total, I was fully recovered in about a week. This taught me a great deal of respect for essential oils.
