Note: Not all essential oil brands are the same, and you get what you pay for. If you expect to achieve results similar to those described in this testimonial, then ensure that you are using oils from pesticide-free plants. Also, the brand should use 100% pure, high-quality essential oils that do not contain any synthetic additives. Do your own research or ask a trusted friend to find a brand that is reputable. Buyer beware.

We came back from the Young Living convention excited to try the new 5 Day Nutritive Cleanse. We jumped right in with it the first week of October 2006.

The 5-Day Nutritive Cleanse is basically 3 meals a day starting with the Digest + Cleanse essential oil softgel followed by a shake of Balance Complete meal replacement in water or rice, soy, almond milk (optional).

Take NingXia Red juice with each meal along with a glass of water. Veggie, fruit and nut snacks can be eaten between meals. Complete instructions on the program accompany the package.

We each took a Longevity capsule once a day and I started using the Omega 3s - approximately 3 per day. I continued taking my usual Super B and SuperCal tablets with the program. We also drank LOTS OF WATER with the meals and in between. VERY IMPORTANT!!

Les worked his regular running schedule, which was about 25 miles that week including 2 hard workouts, a tempo run and an interval workout. I did my regular walking/weight training routine.

We never got hungry and finished the week feeling great, without craving anything. Weighing himself on Monday at the start, and Saturday at the end, my husband lost 9 pounds. As of this morning, October 19, I've lost 7 pounds.

Things we noticed: good energy/not tired, slept very well, increased elimination, no cravings!

We each continue to use the Balance Complete with Power Meal in the morning and many days, mix up a Balance Complete shake for lunch, too, adding blueberries, banana, peaches - whatever we have on hand.

This cleansing program is designed to cleanse and detox the body, give the organs a rest from dealing with an overabundance of food and toxins, balance blood sugar levels, reduce inflammation, provide core nutritional support and increase life span by 50%. It is recommended that we do the 5-Day Nutritive Cleanse every quarter.

You can get more information on the individual products on the website www.youngliving.com or contact us and we'll send you the new product sheets we received at the convention. My plan is to do this program the first week of each month (5 days) until January.

Here's to health!

Supporting Scientific Studies
1.Associated topics: inflammation — "Cineole has mucolytic, bronchodilating and anti-inflammatory properties and reduces the exacerbation rate in patients suffering from COPD, as well as ameliorates symptoms in patients suffering from asthma and rhinosinusitis.... The effects of Cineole in the treatment of acute bronchitis were clearly measurable and could be proven after a treatment period of merely 4 days. This study corroborates the fact that Cineole actively and significantly reduces cough frequency after four days."Link
2.Associated topics: inflammation — "[W]e studied the anti-inflammatory and gastroprotective effects of C. citratus [Lemongrass] and E. citriodora [Lemon Eucalyptus] essential oils on formol-induced edema and acetic acid induced abdominal cramps in Wistar rats.... In vivo analysis and histological assay showed that the two essential oils displayed significant dose-dependent edema [swelling] inhibition effect over time. They displayed strong analgesic [pain-relieving] and antipyretic [fever-reducing] properties similar to that induced by 50 mg/kg of acetylsalicylate of lysine.... This work demonstrates the anti-inflammatory property of Cymbopogon citratus [Lemongrass] and Eucalyptus citriodora [Lemon Eucalyptus], suggesting their potential role as adjuvant therapeutic alternatives in dealing with inflammatory-related diseases."Link
3.Associated topics: inflammation — "To assess their anti-inflammatory activities, effects of essential oils on neutrophil activation were examined in vitro.... All essential oils tested at 0.1% concentration suppressed TNF-945;-induced neutrophil adherence, and, in particular, lemongrass, geranium, and spearmint oils clearly lowered the reaction even at 0.0125%. Similar inhibitory activities for the neutrophil adherence were obtained by their major constituent terpenoids: citral, geraniol, citronellol and carvone. Thus, some essential oils used as anti-inflammatory remedies suppress neutrophil activation by TNF-945; at a low concentration (0.0125-0.025%) in vitro."Link
4.Associated topics: blood-sugar — "Cinnamaldehyde [in cinnamon] has antihyperglycemic and antihyperlipidemic [cholesterol-lowering] actions in db/db mice and could be useful in the treatment of type-2 diabetes."Link
5.Associated topics: blood-sugar — "D-limonene is a major constituent in citrus essential oil.... Recently, d-limonene has been reported to alleviate fatty liver induced by a high-fat diet. Our data suggest that the intake of d-limonene may benefit patients with dyslipidemia and hyperglycemia and is a potential dietary supplement for preventing and ameliorating metabolic disorders."Link
6.Associated topics: weight-loss,food-/-cooking,diet — "Z. officinale [ginger] has been used to control diabetes and dyslipidemia [high cholesterol].... The marked rise in body weights, glucose, insulin, total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, triglycerides, free fatty acids and phospholipids in serum of the rats that followed 6 weeks of high-fat diet treatment were significantly reduced by Z. officinale treatment.... The present results provide scientific evidence to substantiate the traditional use of Z. officinale in preventing metabolic disorders."Link
7.Associated topics: inflammation — "Ruxiang (Gummi olibanum), the dried gum resin of Boswellia carterii (BC) [frankincense], has been used in traditional Chinese medicine to alleviate pain and inflammation for thousands of years.... The data show that BC extract has significant anti-arthritic and anti-inflammation effects and suggest that these effects may be mediated via the suppression of pro-inflammatory cytokines."Link
8.Associated topics: inflammation — "We have demonstrated that Boswellia frereana [frankincense] prevents collagen degradation, and inhibits the production of pro-inflammatory mediators and MMPs. Due to its efficacy we propose that B. frereana should be examined further as a potential therapeutic agent for treating inflammatory symptoms associated with arthritis."Link
