Warning: Not all essential oil brands are the same quality. If you expect to achieve results similar to those described in this testimonial, then ensure that the oil you are using is made from pesticide-free plants grown in optimal conditions. Also, the brand should be a 100% pure, high-quality essential oil that does not contain any synthetic additives. Do your own research or ask trusted friends to find a brand that is reputable.
Several years ago as I was just becoming familiar with the oils, I visited friend "Susan" in Utah. At the end of the trip, Susan offered to stop at the Young Living Visitor Center in Mona, UT as we would be driving right by it.
As soon as we arrived I became engaged in conversation with one of the ladies at the center, talking about oils uses and stuff, and we were so focused that I didn't notice Susan's activities. Eventually something felt amiss and I excused myself to look over the partition, noticing she was acting kind of funny.
I witnessed was a sort of "black cloud" emitting from above her head as she walked over and said that she was going outside and didn't feel very well. I finished my oils conversation, paid for purchases and went outside.
Susan was sitting on the bench looking rather sorry and said she had a migraine coming on, so we headed back to the truck. I gently queried how many oils had she inhaled and she snapped, "NO THAT'S NOT THE PROBLEM, I JUST DIDN'T HAVE ANY COFFEE THIS MORNING AND I HAVE A COFFEE HEADACHE!" Woops, okay, I'll just be quiet over here. We drove 3 hours back to Park City in silence. Upon arrival, Susan quickly retreated to her bedroom and I judiciously left for a few hours.
Later she confessed, "Deborah, I think I may have played with a few too many oils." Really? Um, just how many? She replied, "All of them." ALL OF THEM? Yes, all of them~
At the Young Living Visitor Center, all of the products and oils are on display for testing and purchase. I admit, it can be a bit overwhelming. I had brought along a few oils for support during this trip and apparently Susan was a bit envious of them, though she declined them when offered. But when faced with that selection, she pretty much went wild, opening every single and every blend, inhaling them and applying those she liked liberally! (Read: Take a bath) And for whatever reason, the universe allowed it. The center was quiet and no one happened to detect what was happening until it was all done.
Can you imagine what her body must have been experiencing? Every oil signaling a variety of marching orders to align, heal, purge, repair, release as it entered her system via the olfactory and the additional topical applications? And PURGE she did, both north and south, though this did little to improve Susan's temperament the next day.
Later, as I became more versed in the oils I realized that my use of Lavender and other oils had been triggering her emotional stuff all week and bringing up a lot of repressed anger. It also brought up the truth of the friendship, and this was the parting of ways. A Reason, A Season or a Lifetime, everything happens as it should.
So next time someone says, "Essential oils are just to smell nice," here's a great example of what can happen when someone uses them without common sense or moderation. As our favorite oils man says, "More is not better!" And as I say, "Our bodies require gentleness and respect in the healing process and moderation rather than excess is a wise foundation to wellness."
