Note: Not all essential oil brands are the same, and you get what you pay for. If you expect to achieve results similar to those described in this testimonial, then ensure that you are using oils from pesticide-free plants. Also, the brand should use 100% pure, high-quality essential oils that do not contain any synthetic additives. Do your own research or ask a trusted friend to find a brand that is reputable. Buyer beware.

I usually have menstrual cramps the first few days of my period, so it was no surprise to feel some sharp pains early on. I thought that I would feel better in an hour or so, which I did.

The next day the cramps kept coming back, each one more intense than the one before.

I'm in massage school and during the lecture part of class it got so bad I couldn't concentrate on the material being presented.

I had an essential oil blend in my pocket called Grounding. So I pulled it out and read the ingredient list. White Fir and Spruce oils, which I know are good for muscle pain, Ylang Ylang, which restores confidence and equilibrium, Pine, Cedarwood, Angelica and Juniper.

I decided to apply a few drops, topically, on my abdomen. At last I got relief! It worked in about 10 seconds.

Later my back was sore. So my teacher worked on some acupressure points and, within a few minutes, this ordeal was also over. At least till next time...

Supporting Scientific Studies
1.Associated topics: menstrual-cramps — "The present study indicated that lavender aromatherapy as a potential therapeutic modality could alleviate premenstrual emotional symptoms, which, at least in part, is attributable to the improvement of parasympathetic nervous system activity. This study further implies that HRV could evaluate the efficacy of aromatherapy using various fragrances to relieve premenstrual symptoms, and ultimately, support the mind and body health of women."Link
2.Associated topics: back-pain — "We examined the evidence regarding the effect of herbal medicine on pain in people with non-specific low-back pain (LBP).... Lavender essential oil applied by acupressure appeared effective in reducing pain and improving flexibility compared to conventional treatment."Link
3.Associated topics: menstrual-cramps — "Peppermint oil is harmless and acts locally to inhibit GI [gastrointestinal] smooth muscle contraction.... Peppermint oil solution administered intraluminally can be used as an antispasmodic agent with superior efficacy and fewer side effects than hyoscine-N-butylbromide...."Link
4.Associated topics: menstrual-cramps — "[T]he level and duration of menstrual pain and the amount of menstrual bleeding were significantly lower in the aromatherapy group than in the placebo group. These results suggest that aromatherapy is effective in alleviating menstrual pain, its duration, and excessive menstrual bleeding. Aromatherapy can be provided as a nonpharmacological pain relief measure and as a part of nursing care given to girls suffering of dysmenorrhea or excessive menstrual bleeding."Link
