At work, my chair armrest and desk drawer are a bit cramped together, so when I open my drawer, I need to move my chair to the left. I didn't scoot over far enough, so when I tried to open the drawer, my thumb got stuck in the partially opened drawer, then I moved my chair, which caused the armrest to close the drawer on my thumbnail! It felt like I hit my thumb with a hammer.
So, I read this oil testimonials website and read that it would help to use some Lavender oil, which I don't have any at work.
I do keep a small zipper pouch of four essential oils with me at all times in case I need them. I had the Panaway oil blend in there, so I applied it to my thumbnail, cuticle, and sides and pad of my thumb. I'm not sure if oil absorbs into the fingernail, but I had read that if an essential oil absorbs into skin, it will absorb into the fingernail.
After the first application, ten minutes later, I applied Panaway to the pad of my thumb again, then up over the sides of my thumbnail, and onto the thumbnail and into the cuticle again.
Within 15 minutes, I had no more pain (unless I push hard on my thumbnail). I compared the color of my thumbnail to my other thumbnail, and only a small amount of redness remains where the drawer opening really pressed on my nail. I think I'll apply it one more time, and we should be all set for the day!
