Note: Not all essential oil brands are the same, and you get what you pay for. If you expect to achieve results similar to those described in this testimonial, then ensure that you are using oils from pesticide-free plants. Also, the brand should use 100% pure, high-quality essential oils that do not contain any synthetic additives. Do your own research or ask a trusted friend to find a brand that is reputable. Buyer beware.

Early in March 2020 I awoke one morning with a terribly sore throat. Being an alternative practitioner with a full array of Young Living oils in my office, I quickly set about to deal with the pain and dryness. To my morning tea I added a few drops of the Thieves oil blend as well as a good tablespoon of Manuka honey (the mug is big, about 16 oz.)

By mid-morning I was really feeling that wonky feeling as if the air was let out of my tires. I could tell this was more the beginning of something rather than just a single issue. So I ramped up my efforts and made up a blend of Oregano, Thieves, Rosemary and Lavender oils in a dropper bottle (which I find makes filling capsules easy) along with some Avocado oil as the carrier oil. I took one capsule, then drank a ton of water and then followed that with a good shot, about 2 oz., of Ninxgia Red juice with about another oz. of apple juice it it. My stomach had been queasy so I just kept drinking fluids, mostly tea with Manuka honey in it plus a few drops of Thieves oil.

By mid-afternoon I was having an increasingly rough cough and tightness in my chest. Having dealt with asthma since I was 12, I'm thankful that between the oils and energy work (mostly EFT) I'm fairly issue-free. But I always get new inhalers each year with my yearly exam, one steroidal and one rescue. I did have to use both inhalers for the next two days to their fullest dose. Normally I don't get a fever but the thermometer had continued to rise and at this point I was sporting a fever at 102. So I contacted my doctor and told her what was going on. She said to keep doing what I was doing (my doctors all know I'm an energy practitioner and that I use oils and they are very supportive).

Settling down into bed with the diffuser going - I asked if there was anything else my body needed for my immune system to do it's best job. Lemon oil. I was inundated with images of the bottle of Lemon oil and intuitively felt that my body needed support in "flushing out" and that the increased production Lemon would create would do the job. So I added Lemon to my dropper bottle, and began taking that incapsules (I took 4 total capsules each day with this blend). And I put Lemon, Lavender, Rosemary and Thieves into the diffuser.

It took two full days for my system to finally process what was going on and my fever to break. I spent most of that time in bed either sleeping, applying oils, taking oils, tapping (EFT) or meditating. For the following week I had a shallowness to my breathing so I kept up taking and inhaling the blends, while also making sure to keep the fluids coming. By the next weekend I was completely fine.

On the first day I was feeling fine my husband came down with the exact same issues. He does not have asthma, so I never gave him an inhaler - he doesn't have a prescription for one and I don't endorse sharing prescriptions. But otherwise I did the same for him as I did for me - except I started him right out on the Lemon oil. He also had a fever of 102. By the end of his second day his fever was nearly normal, his color had returned and he was very hungry. He also spent a week with a shallow breath but he had a light cough. A week later and he was fine as well.

Neither of us have any further issues and have been fine ever since. We love our oils!

Supporting Scientific Studies
1.Associated topics: cough — "Cineole has mucolytic, bronchodilating and anti-inflammatory properties and reduces the exacerbation rate in patients suffering from COPD, as well as ameliorates symptoms in patients suffering from asthma and rhinosinusitis.... The effects of Cineole in the treatment of acute bronchitis were clearly measurable and could be proven after a treatment period of merely 4 days. This study corroborates the fact that Cineole actively and significantly reduces cough frequency after four days."Link
2.Associated topics: sore-/-scratchy-throat — "The antibacterial activity of 14 essential oils and their major constituents in the gaseous state was evaluated against [respiratory tract pathogens] Haemophilus influenzae, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Streptococcus pyogenes, and Staphylococcus aureus. [The] oils [with cinnamon bark, lemongrass, and thyme being most potent] and their major constituents were shown to be effective against various bacteria tested.... These results indicate that the antibacterial action of essential oils was most effective when at high vapor concentration for a short time."Link
3.Associated topics: sore-/-scratchy-throat — "Streptococcus pyogenes [strep] plays an important role in the pathogenesis of tonsillitis.... [T]hyme, cinnamon, lemongrass, tea tree, lavender, oregano, clove, palmarosa, or cajeput [melaleuca] EOs [essential oils] are known to be active against Streptococcus pyogenes, while oregano, basil, mint [peppermint], rosemary, and lavender EOs are known to inhibit another Gram-positive bacteria, Staphylococcus aureus [staph].... We showed that cinnamon presented the higher activity against S. pyogenes compared to the other EOs tested.... 14 [essential oils] showed antibacterial activity against Streptococcus pyogenes.... Among them Cinnamomum verum [cinnamon bark], Cymbopogon citratus [Xiang Mao], Thymus vulgaris CT thymol [thyme], Origanum compactum [oregano], and Satureja montana [Mountain Savory] essential oils exhibited significant antibacterial activity. The in vitro results reported here suggest that, for patients suffering from bacterial throat infections, if aromatherapy is used, these essential oils, considered as potential antimicrobial agents, should be preferred."Link
4.Associated topics: congestion-/-mucus-/-phlegm — "The result for the primary end point was validated by the amelioration of the following secondary end points: headache on bending, frontal headache, sensitivity of pressure points of trigeminal nerve, impairment of general condition, nasal obstruction, and rhinological secretion.... In patients with acute nonpurulent rhinosinusitis, timely treatment with cineole [a.k.a. eucalyptol... found in eucalyptus, camphor laurel, laurus nobilis, tea tree, mugwort, basil, wormwood, rosemary, sage, and cannabis] is effective and safe before antibiotics are indicated."Link
5.Associated topics: sore-/-scratchy-throat — "[T]he antibacterial activity of lemongrass oil (LG) and its major components (citral, geraniol, and myrcene) against four strains of clinically isolated bovine mastitis pathogens (Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus agalactiae, Bacillus cereus, and Escherichia coli).., as well as their activity on S. aureus biofilm formation [were investigated].... [T]hey inhibit S. aureus biofilm formation and exhibit effective killing activities on preformed biofilms."Link
6.Associated topics: nausea-/-queasy — "Ginger root reduced the tendency to vomiting and cold sweating significantly better than placebo did.... Remarkably fewer symptoms of nausea and vertigo were reported after ginger root ingestion...."Link
