I have two indoor cats. While we keep our home fairly clean, it's impossible to keep it pet-hair-free all the time, or more specifically, dander-free. We also have a friend who is allergic to cats. I've seen him in our home after about 15-20 minutes begin to have allergy symptoms.
One day when I knew he and his family were coming for dinner, I vacuumed the furniture and floor (as I always did before he arrives), and diffused about 3 drops of Lavender and 2 drops of Thieves all afternoon. I had the diffuser in my kitchen/family combo room.
My friend was skeptical when he arrived and I told him what I had done. However, he went the entire evening with NO allergy symptoms! His wife was amazed, and she now has her own oils.
After an unexpected death in my family last week, my friends came back over. I had not diffused or even quick-cleaned the area. When he started showing signs of the allergy, I put a drop of Lavender oil in his hand, and told him to rub his hands together and inhale. He is not a fan of the "smell" of the oils and made a smart comment about it, but he also quit having any allergy symptoms!
