On Saturday my daughter complained that her ear was aching and over the next few hours, she was full of tears and had a fever. I was thinking that it was likely an ear infection, which is annoying because the last time she had one, she was like 1 year old. Now she is 5!
So, after dealing with the fever, I decided to try a new oil for her ear, the Melrose oil blend. I applied a drop or two to the entrance of the ear canal only as far as the finger reached and also rubbed a drop behind the ear. I didn't dilute it because she was in so much pain, but I always suggest that you dilute. She told us later that her ear had been hurting for DAYS!
We went to the doctor on Sunday morning, and he thoroughly checked her ear. Diagnosis? Ear infection... but only mild. I was surprised since she was in such pain.
I told him about Melrose oil. He wrote out a prescription for antibiotics, and my daughter said, "But, mommy, antibiotics aren't good for our guts!" The doctor agreed and said, "Keep using the oil. But, if she still has pain and fever after 2 days, start the meds."
I am happy to report that there was no more fever since then and she hasn't complained of any earache.
Melrose is my new favorite oil!
