My fur baby Buster has dry, flaky skin, including some bald spots. The condition usually flares up during the winter months here in Maryland around October to January.
I have tried everything recommended by the veterinarian, including approved medicated shampoo and pills, to help with my dog's allergies. Unfortunately, nothing seemed to help with his skin until I started using therapeutic-grade essential oils. This is the recipe that I used:
* 4 tablespoons organic coconut oil
* 2 drops Lavender
* 2 drops Frankincense
* 2 drops Copaiba
* 2 drops Tea tree
I whipped up the ingredients for about two minutes and then put it into a 4-ounce glass jar to be kept in a dark place.
Though this mixture stores as a solid, all I had to do was just dip my fingers in the jar. The mixture would then melt from the warmth of my hands into a spreadable oil. This I would massage into Buster's skin twice a day.
After doing this for two weeks, his skin is now clear from any redness. There is no more flaky skin, and his hair is growing back from the baldness.
I have been continuing the applications, focusing on getting the bald spots to grow more hair by applying the cream just on those areas.
