Note: Not all essential oil brands are the same, and you get what you pay for. If you expect to achieve results similar to those described in this testimonial, then ensure that you are using oils from pesticide-free plants. Also, the brand should use 100% pure, high-quality essential oils that do not contain any synthetic additives. Do your own research or ask a trusted friend to find a brand that is reputable. Buyer beware.

We have a Chihuahua named Spencer, whom we rescued more than 7 years ago. We are uncertain of his age, but we and our vet estimate that he is somewhere around 8 or 9 years old.

He has always been a spunky little guy, and he is great with our kids. But yesterday he was hobbling around the house and had a difficult time getting up the stairs. It took him three times to make it up the first one when my husband took pity on him and helped him up the rest.
His eyes did not look right; they were partially closed, and he was staying in his crate away from everyone. I was very concerned that maybe his age was slowing him down.

I was getting ready to call the vet when I decided to take a look at my essential oils reference book. Since Spencer is a small dog -- and I did not want to overdo anything -- I used 2 drops of Lavender essential oil with one pump of V-6 Enhanced Vegetable Oil Complex and applied it to his belly, feet, and hips.

I should have timed it because it could not have been 5 minutes before he was out walking around (still a little stiffly), looking for food. Within a half hour he was running around and acting like a pup again! I would not have believed it if I had not seen it myself.

This morning he is doing great and seems to be free of discomfort. Lavender essential oil has come to my rescue yet again!

Supporting Scientific Studies
1.Associated topics: puppy-/-dog-/-canine — "Idiopathic vestibular syndrome is the most common cause of peripheral vestibular disease in dogs and, despite its dramatic clinical presentation, can improve without intervention."Link
2.Associated topics: joints, arthritis — "Ruxiang (Gummi olibanum), the dried gum resin of Boswellia carterii (BC) [frankincense], has been used in traditional Chinese medicine to alleviate pain and inflammation for thousands of years.... The data show that BC extract has significant anti-arthritic and anti-inflammation effects and suggest that these effects may be mediated via the suppression of pro-inflammatory cytokines."Link
3.Associated topics: joints, arthritis — "We have demonstrated that Boswellia frereana [frankincense] prevents collagen degradation, and inhibits the production of pro-inflammatory mediators and MMPs. Due to its efficacy we propose that B. frereana should be examined further as a potential therapeutic agent for treating inflammatory symptoms associated with arthritis."Link
4.Associated topics: puppy-/-dog-/-canine — "[T]opical fatty acids and essential oils are a useful treatment option for canine atopic dermatitis."Link
5.Associated topics: joints — "Herbalists treat skin ailments, such as fungal infections (like candidiasis), wounds, eczema, and acne, with lavender oil. It is also used in a healing bath for joint and muscle pain. One study evaluating treatments for children with eczema found [that] it was therapeutic touch from the mother that improved symptoms; in other words, massage with and without essential oils (including lavender) both reduced the dry, scaly skin lesions. Another study found that lavender oil may improve pain control after surgery."Link
