In November 1981 I contracted a condition that attacked my eyes. It took 11 years and many visits to specialists from Edmonton, Red Deer, and Calgary in Canada before the doctors could put a name to it. The day that my eyelid drooped, the doctor could finally put a name to the disease, which is called Ocular Myasthenia Gravis.

I have found that, through the years, stress could trigger this disease. My eye would close, especially if I happened to be in a crowd. Not a pretty sight, I might add.

Sometimes it would last a few months to a couple of years, then it would go into remission again. I am one of the lucky ones that this disease would go into remission. Some people find that their eye would close and then never open again. So over the years I counted myself very lucky and tried not to complain.

With the stress of our art group's project for our town's centennial in 2012, the disease came back full on. So for the next 2 years it was a trying time, and I thought that I was just going to have to put up with this dreaded eye disease. I didn't think that it would go back into remission ever again.

Then the unthinkable happened. I was introduced to therapeutic-grade essential oils. I started using them in earnest in February 2014.

I get a wonderful newsletter twice a month by email. In one of the articles the author mentioned about using Sacred Frankincense to get rid of floaters in the eyes. That interested me, as I have floaters. So I decided that I had to try this; but first I had to put an order in, as I didn't have that particular oil on hand.

On May 31, 2014, we celebrated my sister's 80th birthday party with our family and friends in attendance. My eye was closed tight that day (remember I said it doesn't like crowds).

Then on June 6th I received my order, so I started twice a day (just like the author of the newsletter said) to put 3 drops of Sacred Frankincense in the palm of my hand, rub together, and then cup my eyes for 3 minutes (keeping eyes open) twice a day. I did this every day, and my husband thought that I was crazy. But I was bound and determined.

After 3 weeks I still had the floaters. Darn, it didn't work. But... then I realized that my eye wasn't closed anymore! Okay, something was going on here that I didn't realize was happening.

It has now been 8 months of using either Sacred Frankincense or Frankincense (whichever I have on hand), and my eye has only been closed ONE day in all that time. This everyday regimen has put my eye disease back into remission.

This regimen may not totally eliminate my Ocular Myasthenia Gravis disease; but if it keeps it in remission, boy can I live with that! Another positive thing is that my husband is now a believer in the power of essential oils!
