Note: Not all essential oil brands are the same, and you get what you pay for. If you expect to achieve results similar to those described in this testimonial, then ensure that you are using oils from pesticide-free plants. Also, the brand should use 100% pure, high-quality essential oils that do not contain any synthetic additives. Do your own research or ask a trusted friend to find a brand that is reputable. Buyer beware.

Yesterday when I woke up, I had a slight sore throat. As the day went on, my head got congested. By bedtime my sinuses were stuffed. I thought it might be a food intolerance issue, as I had been on an egg-free diet for weeks but had eaten eggs the day before. By the time I went to bed I was running a fever.

I woke up at 3 am in excruciating pain. My back teeth hurt! I couldn't breathe through my nose, which is a problem since I sleep with a CPAP machine. I immediately pulled up the Oil-Testimonials website and began to go down the list, doing everything I had the oils for.

I made a capsule of 10 drops of the Thieves oil blend and 3 drops Sacred Frankincense and took that. I dropped one drop of Palo Santo into each nostril. (I don't recommend that unless you have a high pain tolerance; my 6 would be the average person's 10, and this pain was easily an 8 for me.)

I used the Breathe Again oil blend over my sinuses followed by the Deep Relief oil blend. After about 10 minutes I applied Myrtle over my nose and across my sinuses.

I am happy to report that about 2 minutes later my sinuses released, and I used several tissues. The pain and pressure are completely gone! My ears itch, but that will be fixed with the Melrose oil blend applied topically from my ear down to the center of my throat.

Drastic measures, I know. But it worked, and I'm anticipating a great finish to my night's sleep.

Supporting Scientific Studies
1.Associated topics: sinusitis — "Cineole has mucolytic, bronchodilating and anti-inflammatory properties and reduces the exacerbation rate in patients suffering from COPD, as well as ameliorates symptoms in patients suffering from asthma and rhinosinusitis.... The effects of Cineole in the treatment of acute bronchitis were clearly measurable and could be proven after a treatment period of merely 4 days. This study corroborates the fact that Cineole actively and significantly reduces cough frequency after four days."Link
2.Associated topics: sore-throat — "The antibacterial activity of 14 essential oils and their major constituents in the gaseous state was evaluated against [respiratory tract pathogens] Haemophilus influenzae, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Streptococcus pyogenes, and Staphylococcus aureus. [The] oils [with cinnamon bark, lemongrass, and thyme being most potent] and their major constituents were shown to be effective against various bacteria tested.... These results indicate that the antibacterial action of essential oils was most effective when at high vapor concentration for a short time."Link
3.Associated topics: sore-throat — "Streptococcus pyogenes [strep] plays an important role in the pathogenesis of tonsillitis.... [T]hyme, cinnamon, lemongrass, tea tree, lavender, oregano, clove, palmarosa, or cajeput [melaleuca] EOs [essential oils] are known to be active against Streptococcus pyogenes, while oregano, basil, mint [peppermint], rosemary, and lavender EOs are known to inhibit another Gram-positive bacteria, Staphylococcus aureus [staph].... We showed that cinnamon presented the higher activity against S. pyogenes compared to the other EOs tested.... 14 [essential oils] showed antibacterial activity against Streptococcus pyogenes.... Among them Cinnamomum verum [cinnamon bark], Cymbopogon citratus [Xiang Mao], Thymus vulgaris CT thymol [thyme], Origanum compactum [oregano], and Satureja montana [Mountain Savory] essential oils exhibited significant antibacterial activity. The in vitro results reported here suggest that, for patients suffering from bacterial throat infections, if aromatherapy is used, these essential oils, considered as potential antimicrobial agents, should be preferred."Link
4.Associated topics: sinusitis, sinuses — "The result for the primary end point was validated by the amelioration of the following secondary end points: headache on bending, frontal headache, sensitivity of pressure points of trigeminal nerve, impairment of general condition, nasal obstruction, and rhinological secretion.... In patients with acute nonpurulent rhinosinusitis, timely treatment with cineole [a.k.a. eucalyptol... found in eucalyptus, camphor laurel, laurus nobilis, tea tree, mugwort, basil, wormwood, rosemary, sage, and cannabis] is effective and safe before antibiotics are indicated."Link
5.Associated topics: food-allergies — "[L]avender oil inhibits immediate-type allergic reactions [anaphylaxis] by inhibition of mast cell degranulation in-vivo and in-vitro."Link
6.Associated topics: sore-throat — "[T]he antibacterial activity of lemongrass oil (LG) and its major components (citral, geraniol, and myrcene) against four strains of clinically isolated bovine mastitis pathogens (Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus agalactiae, Bacillus cereus, and Escherichia coli).., as well as their activity on S. aureus biofilm formation [were investigated].... [T]hey inhibit S. aureus biofilm formation and exhibit effective killing activities on preformed biofilms."Link
7.Associated topics: continuous-positive-airway-pressure-(CPAP) — "This double-blind study suggests a significant reduction in snoring reported by bed partners in a group of snoring volunteers using either an essential oil spray or gargle formulation."Link
8.Associated topics: food-allergies — "[T]he biological activity of 20 essential oils (EOs) from herbal plants and citrus fruits were investigated in terms of mammalian DNA polymerase (pol) inhibitory activity, cancer cell (human colon carcinoma) growth inhibitory activity, antiallergic activity... in rat basophilic leukemia cells, and antioxidant activity.... Among these EOs, chamomile... showed significant effects on both cancer cell growth and mast cell degranulation. On the basis of these results, chamomile EO can be recommended as a potentially useful, bioactive candidate for therapeutic applications."Link
