Note: Not all essential oil brands are the same, and you get what you pay for. If you expect to achieve results similar to those described in this testimonial, then ensure that you are using oils from pesticide-free plants. Also, the brand should use 100% pure, high-quality essential oils that do not contain any synthetic additives. Do your own research or ask a trusted friend to find a brand that is reputable. Buyer beware.

My four-year-old son came down with a fever last Sunday of 102.3. He was coughing, sneezing, and had head congestion. I tried the RC, Breathe Again and Thieves oil blends, also Peppermint, Lavender, Eucalyptus, Clove, honey and anything else I had that I thought might help. Nothing was making a difference.

Thursday I took him to the doctor. His ears were clear, throat was clear, lungs were clear. They determined it was a cold and it would pass.

By Saturday he cried and gagged during coughing fits because he was so exhausted from coughing. Neither of us were sleeping and he was just worn out. His fever spiked up to 104.3 and we took him in to the ER. They couldn't really figure it out either what was going on.

His ears were a little bit red (which is common with head congestion anyway) and his throat was slightly irritated from the drainage and coughing. He tested negative for strep and flu. They gave me an Rx for an antibiotic in case it was an ear infection but I wasn't satisfied with that.

I was finally able to use a Zyto scanner to scan him that night after going to the ER. The result was incredible! 23 biomarkers were out of range and all 23 were brought back into range by one oil: Hyssop! I didn't know Hyssop was good for respiratory infection but I looked up in the essential oils reference book and it was right there in black and white.

That night I did not give him the antibiotic, but rubbed a few drops of the Awaken oil blend on him because that's all I had that contained Hyssop. I diffused it in his room too. No coughing and he slept peacefully.

The next morning his fever had broken and he was back to being his normal little self. He coughed mildly a handful of times that day. I rubbed more of the Awaken blend on him in the morning and at night and diffused it again. On Monday, no coughing. Tuesday, no coughing. I think we had it beat!

Consequently, a friend has a 2 year old with the same thing. A week's worth of sickness, same coughing and congestion and nothing was working.

I gave her some Awaken to use and she was better within hours!

Supporting Scientific Studies
1.Associated topics: breathing, respiratory, colds — "In confirming the presence of peripheral airways dysfunction in nonsmokers with uncomplicated common colds, our data imply that the changes can be modified favorably by short-term aromatics inhalation."Link
2.Associated topics: breathing, respiratory, colds, cough — "Cineole has mucolytic, bronchodilating and anti-inflammatory properties and reduces the exacerbation rate in patients suffering from COPD, as well as ameliorates symptoms in patients suffering from asthma and rhinosinusitis.... The effects of Cineole in the treatment of acute bronchitis were clearly measurable and could be proven after a treatment period of merely 4 days. This study corroborates the fact that Cineole actively and significantly reduces cough frequency after four days."Link
3.Associated topics: colds — "Taken together, we found an essential oil blend [Orange, Clove, Cinnamon Bark, Eucalyptus, and Rosemary] notably attenuates influenza virus PR8 infection in vitro via inhibition of viral protein synthesis at the post-transcription level. The lack of toxicity and potent specific inhibition ability make the essential oil a possible antiviral drug for influenza virus proliferation control and treatment."Link
4.Associated topics: respiratory — "Foeniculum vulgare Mill, commonly called fennel, has been used in traditional medicine for a wide range of ailments related to digestive, endocrine, reproductive, and respiratory systems. Additionally, it is also used as a galactagogue agent for lactating mothers.... Foeniculum vulgare has emerged as a good source of traditional medicine and it provides a noteworthy basis in pharmaceutical biology for the development/formulation of new drugs and future clinical uses."Link
5.Associated topics: respiratory,sore-throat — "The antibacterial activity of 14 essential oils and their major constituents in the gaseous state was evaluated against [respiratory tract pathogens] Haemophilus influenzae, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Streptococcus pyogenes, and Staphylococcus aureus. [The] oils [with cinnamon bark, lemongrass, and thyme being most potent] and their major constituents were shown to be effective against various bacteria tested.... These results indicate that the antibacterial action of essential oils was most effective when at high vapor concentration for a short time."Link
6.Associated topics: fever — "[W]e studied the anti-inflammatory and gastroprotective effects of C. citratus [Lemongrass] and E. citriodora [Lemon Eucalyptus] essential oils on formol-induced edema and acetic acid induced abdominal cramps in Wistar rats.... In vivo analysis and histological assay showed that the two essential oils displayed significant dose-dependent edema [swelling] inhibition effect over time. They displayed strong analgesic [pain-relieving] and antipyretic [fever-reducing] properties similar to that induced by 50 mg/kg of acetylsalicylate of lysine.... This work demonstrates the anti-inflammatory property of Cymbopogon citratus [Lemongrass] and Eucalyptus citriodora [Lemon Eucalyptus], suggesting their potential role as adjuvant therapeutic alternatives in dealing with inflammatory-related diseases."Link
7.Associated topics: sore-throat — "Streptococcus pyogenes [strep] plays an important role in the pathogenesis of tonsillitis.... [T]hyme, cinnamon, lemongrass, tea tree, lavender, oregano, clove, palmarosa, or cajeput [melaleuca] EOs [essential oils] are known to be active against Streptococcus pyogenes, while oregano, basil, mint [peppermint], rosemary, and lavender EOs are known to inhibit another Gram-positive bacteria, Staphylococcus aureus [staph].... We showed that cinnamon presented the higher activity against S. pyogenes compared to the other EOs tested.... 14 [essential oils] showed antibacterial activity against Streptococcus pyogenes.... Among them Cinnamomum verum [cinnamon bark], Cymbopogon citratus [Xiang Mao], Thymus vulgaris CT thymol [thyme], Origanum compactum [oregano], and Satureja montana [Mountain Savory] essential oils exhibited significant antibacterial activity. The in vitro results reported here suggest that, for patients suffering from bacterial throat infections, if aromatherapy is used, these essential oils, considered as potential antimicrobial agents, should be preferred."Link
8.Associated topics: congestion-(mucus),sinuses — "The result for the primary end point was validated by the amelioration of the following secondary end points: headache on bending, frontal headache, sensitivity of pressure points of trigeminal nerve, impairment of general condition, nasal obstruction, and rhinological secretion.... In patients with acute nonpurulent rhinosinusitis, timely treatment with cineole [a.k.a. eucalyptol... found in eucalyptus, camphor laurel, laurus nobilis, tea tree, mugwort, basil, wormwood, rosemary, sage, and cannabis] is effective and safe before antibiotics are indicated."Link
