Note: Not all essential oil brands are the same, and you get what you pay for. If you expect to achieve results similar to those described in this testimonial, then ensure that you are using oils from pesticide-free plants. Also, the brand should use 100% pure, high-quality essential oils that do not contain any synthetic additives. Do your own research or ask a trusted friend to find a brand that is reputable. Buyer beware.

Last night my good-natured 6.5 year old son went to sleep with a little sore throat and some hoarseness. After sleeping two hours, he woke up screaming that his throat hurt. As I didn't have any Thieves spray, I used Chloraseptic and he went right back to sleep. This happened about every hour at least 4 times and each time a croupy croaky cough would accompany his screaming out from the PAINFUL sore throat.

At about 4:30 am he again woke up screaming, this time I did not spray, but brought him to the bathroom, laid him on the floor and turned on the hot water in the shower. Then I got my daughter.

She asked what oils he had taken. I said he went to bed with 3 drops of Thieves diluted with almond oil in a capsule before bed, also with a small amount on his feet.

After consulting an essential oils reference book, we put on the following:

* PanAway diluted with almond oil on his throat (1 drop PanAway w/2 drops almond oil)

* 2 drops RC diluted with 2 drops Ortho Ease on his chest

* 2 drops Eucalyptus Globulus with 2 drop Ortho Ease on his chest

* 2 drops Eucalyptus Globulus on each foot applied neat.

We put him in bed (now it was about 5:30 am) and didn't wake up until 10:30 am with a smile on his face. His throat still hurts a little because there is still a lot of gunk in his throat, but today we'll be applying the same every 2-3 hours or so.

You may wonder why I'm so amazed! I've seen great things with the oils, but it must have been excruciating for him to scream the way he did. I so love the oils and thank our Almighty Father for giving us the oils and inspiring Gary Young to do what he does!

Supporting Scientific Studies
1.Associated topics: breathing — "In confirming the presence of peripheral airways dysfunction in nonsmokers with uncomplicated common colds, our data imply that the changes can be modified favorably by short-term aromatics inhalation."Link
2.Associated topics: breathing, cough, croup — "Cineole has mucolytic, bronchodilating and anti-inflammatory properties and reduces the exacerbation rate in patients suffering from COPD, as well as ameliorates symptoms in patients suffering from asthma and rhinosinusitis.... The effects of Cineole in the treatment of acute bronchitis were clearly measurable and could be proven after a treatment period of merely 4 days. This study corroborates the fact that Cineole actively and significantly reduces cough frequency after four days."Link
3.Associated topics: viruses — "The presence of beta-caryophyllene in many essential oils might contribute strongly to their antiviral ability. These results indicate that phenylpropanoids and sesquiterpenes present in essential oils contribute to their antiviral activity against HSV [herpes simplex virus]."Link
4.Associated topics: viruses — "Taken together, we found an essential oil blend [Orange, Clove, Cinnamon Bark, Eucalyptus, and Rosemary] notably attenuates influenza virus PR8 infection in vitro via inhibition of viral protein synthesis at the post-transcription level. The lack of toxicity and potent specific inhibition ability make the essential oil a possible antiviral drug for influenza virus proliferation control and treatment."Link
5.Associated topics: croup — "The antibacterial activity of 14 essential oils and their major constituents in the gaseous state was evaluated against [respiratory tract pathogens] Haemophilus influenzae, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Streptococcus pyogenes, and Staphylococcus aureus. [The] oils [with cinnamon bark, lemongrass, and thyme being most potent] and their major constituents were shown to be effective against various bacteria tested.... These results indicate that the antibacterial action of essential oils was most effective when at high vapor concentration for a short time."Link
6.Associated topics: congestion-(mucus) — "The result for the primary end point was validated by the amelioration of the following secondary end points: headache on bending, frontal headache, sensitivity of pressure points of trigeminal nerve, impairment of general condition, nasal obstruction, and rhinological secretion.... In patients with acute nonpurulent rhinosinusitis, timely treatment with cineole [a.k.a. eucalyptol... found in eucalyptus, camphor laurel, laurus nobilis, tea tree, mugwort, basil, wormwood, rosemary, sage, and cannabis] is effective and safe before antibiotics are indicated."Link
7.Associated topics: breathing — "Essential Oil Diffusion [lavender, marjoram, balsam fir, and peppermint] for the Treatment of Persistent Oxygen Dependence in a Three-Year-Old Child With Restrictive Lung Disease With Respiratory Syncytial Virus [RSV] Pneumonia: A 3-year-old female with central core disorder, a static myopathy affecting type one muscle fibers, with an 18-day history of oxygen requirement, acute desaturation episodes on high-flow oxygen, and persistent upper-lobe atelectasis... experienced a rapid reduction in oxygen requirement when treated with diffused plant essential oils after insufficient response to N-acetylcysteine (NAC) and dornase alfa."Link
8.Associated topics: viruses — "Tea tree oil (TTO) (Melaleuca alternifolia) has been used recently as an effective topical application for the treatment of skin infections due to a variety of aetiological microbial agents, including mainly bacterial infections. We detail... the successful treatment with TTO of a paediatric patient with warts on her right middle finger. TTO was applied topically once daily to the lesions for 12 days, with a successful outcome, including complete re-epithelization of the infected areas. The case highlights the potential use of TTO in the treatment of common warts due to human papilloma virus."Link
