Note: Not all essential oil brands are the same, and you get what you pay for. If you expect to achieve results similar to those described in this testimonial, then ensure that you are using oils from pesticide-free plants. Also, the brand should use 100% pure, high-quality essential oils that do not contain any synthetic additives. Do your own research or ask a trusted friend to find a brand that is reputable. Buyer beware.

I tripped over the computer cord and then turned my big toe under on my other foot. I immediately was on the floor, in a lot of pain, to the point it made me nauseous. My toe was turning in towards the other toes. I asked my family to get Helichrysum, the PanAway and Trauma Life oil blends and Peppermint.

I licked the Peppermint from the back of my hand to relieve the sick feeling. My husband applied the PanAway and Helichrysum to my toes. I put Trauma Life on the back of my neck to relieve the shock of it all. I did apply ice for a short time and applied a few drops of all the oils and blends about every two hours. I also used Idaho Balsam Fir and Copaiba. This oil amplifies the effect of all the oils you use in conjunction with it. I continued using the PanAway as well.

The second day I used a small splint for the toe to help it straighten. I was able to move about a bit without a lot of pain. I know applying the oils right away and consistently helped reduce the swelling dramatically.

Three years ago I hurt my great toe on my right foot, did not have PanAway with me and by the time I got home it was swollen. This time the toe hurt more but is not as swollen.

As of day 4, there is some bruising and redness but it is straightening and the pain has decreased dramatically. So my advice is always have your oils with you. I would apply the same oils to an injured ankle, hand or wrist also.

Supporting Scientific Studies
1.Associated topics: swelling-/-swollen-/-puffy — "[W]e studied the anti-inflammatory and gastroprotective effects of C. citratus [Lemongrass] and E. citriodora [Lemon Eucalyptus] essential oils on formol-induced edema and acetic acid induced abdominal cramps in Wistar rats.... In vivo analysis and histological assay showed that the two essential oils displayed significant dose-dependent edema [swelling] inhibition effect over time. They displayed strong analgesic [pain-relieving] and antipyretic [fever-reducing] properties similar to that induced by 50 mg/kg of acetylsalicylate of lysine.... This work demonstrates the anti-inflammatory property of Cymbopogon citratus [Lemongrass] and Eucalyptus citriodora [Lemon Eucalyptus], suggesting their potential role as adjuvant therapeutic alternatives in dealing with inflammatory-related diseases."Link
2.Associated topics: bones-/-osteo — "Common herbs, essential oils, and monoterpenes potently modulate bone metabolism.... we investigated several common herbs rich in essential oils (sage, rosemary, and thyme) and essential oils extracted from these herbs and other plants (oils of sage, rosemary, juniper, pine, dwarf pine, turpentine, and eucalyptus) as well as their monoterpene components (thujone, eucalyptol, camphor, borneol, thymol, alpha-pinene, beta-pinene, bornylacetate as well as menthol) and found that they inhibit bone resorption.... Our study demonstrates for the first time that essential oils and monoterpenes are efficient inhibitors of bone resorption...."Link
3.Associated topics: bones-/-osteo — "Results of bone density, bone mineral content, bone tensile strength and histological analysis also showed similar trend of results, which supported initial observations of this study. It is proposed that hydroalcoholic extract of dried clove buds has bone-preserving efficacy against hypogonadal [hormonally deficient] osteoporosis."Link
