I went to see an energy healer for a session. She noticed that my jaw muscles were very tight. She asked if she could put Basil essential oil on my Temporomandibular joints to relax them. She gently rubbed a drop or two on each.

About 10 minutes later, I thought my jaws were swollen. Instead, the Basil had relaxed my muscles completely. They felt swollen because I wasn't used to them being so relaxed. This lasted for six or eight hours!

I started buying essential oils at health food stores, because I was so impressed. Those oils did not do much. I later learned that not all oils are therapeutic grade, and the Basil used on my TM joints was from Young Living Essential Oils. I now only use the Young Living brand. Basil, Peace & Calming and Stress Away are my favorite TMJ oils. I now only need them if life is particularly stressful and I start clenching.
