Note: Not all essential oil brands are the same, and you get what you pay for. If you expect to achieve results similar to those described in this testimonial, then ensure that you are using oils from pesticide-free plants. Also, the brand should use 100% pure, high-quality essential oils that do not contain any synthetic additives. Do your own research or ask a trusted friend to find a brand that is reputable. Buyer beware.

On the third of January, I got sick with a bad sinus infection and chest cold. I took a 1 am and pm 12 hr Mucinex dm, one Generic 12 hr Sudafed am and pm, and one 50mg Zinc tablet daily. I rubbed the Breathe Again roll-on on my chest and then steamed with my personal steamer with a metal tea bag with a cotton ball inserted.

Into the cotton ball I placed a drop of the following Young Living Essential Oils; Lavender, Marjoram, Basil, Cypress, Pine, Spruce, Myrtle, and Eucalyptus Globulus on the cotton ball; hung the tea bag in the steamer and steamed for 15 minutes. All these oils are in the blend RC, but I had run out of that oil so I used the single oils.

Then I took the cotton ball and rubbed it on my forehead sinus areas of my face and on the mastoid bone behind my ear. I steamed three or four times a day (9 am, 1pm, 5pm, 9pm) from Wednesday through Saturday and by Sunday I was better, no coughing, little sinus drainage, and was able to go to church on Sunday and teach my Primary Class. I could hardly believe how fast I got over the virus sinus and chest symptoms with the oil and medication regimen.

I have been using Lavender Y.L. EO on my left ankle and right knee every day for several months and could feel with my finger both areas firming up. I have had no pain in my left ankle since I started using the oils. I take ansaids, anti-inflamatory pain medication 3-4 months on Aleve, 3-4 months on Ibuprophene, and 3-4 months on Aspirin 650 mg 2X a day. Aspirin everyday.

Clara R. introduced me to D. Gary Young and Young Living Therapeutic Essential Oils. I signed up as a distributor and have been purchasing the oils ever since. I started using the Young Living Oils over a year ago.

Last October I had a similar illness. I was ill for ten days, used the steamer, took 1 am and 1 pm 12 hr Mucinex dm, one Generic 12 hr Sudafed am and pm, and one 50mg Zinc tablet daily. In a week I was no better and I had to go to the doctor who prescribed 5 daily doses of antibiotic before I got better.

Supporting Scientific Studies
1.Associated topics: lungs-/-pulmonary,colds — "In confirming the presence of peripheral airways dysfunction in nonsmokers with uncomplicated common colds, our data imply that the changes can be modified favorably by short-term aromatics inhalation."Link
2.Associated topics: lungs-/-pulmonary,colds,sinus-infection,cough — "Cineole has mucolytic, bronchodilating and anti-inflammatory properties and reduces the exacerbation rate in patients suffering from COPD, as well as ameliorates symptoms in patients suffering from asthma and rhinosinusitis.... The effects of Cineole in the treatment of acute bronchitis were clearly measurable and could be proven after a treatment period of merely 4 days. This study corroborates the fact that Cineole actively and significantly reduces cough frequency after four days."Link
3.Associated topics: colds — "Taken together, we found an essential oil blend [Orange, Clove, Cinnamon Bark, Eucalyptus, and Rosemary] notably attenuates influenza virus PR8 infection in vitro via inhibition of viral protein synthesis at the post-transcription level. The lack of toxicity and potent specific inhibition ability make the essential oil a possible antiviral drug for influenza virus proliferation control and treatment."Link
4.Associated topics: sinus-infection — "The antibacterial activity of 14 essential oils and their major constituents in the gaseous state was evaluated against [respiratory tract pathogens] Haemophilus influenzae, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Streptococcus pyogenes, and Staphylococcus aureus. [The] oils [with cinnamon bark, lemongrass, and thyme being most potent] and their major constituents were shown to be effective against various bacteria tested.... These results indicate that the antibacterial action of essential oils was most effective when at high vapor concentration for a short time."Link
5.Associated topics: congestion-/-mucus-/-phlegm,sinus-infection,sinus — "The result for the primary end point was validated by the amelioration of the following secondary end points: headache on bending, frontal headache, sensitivity of pressure points of trigeminal nerve, impairment of general condition, nasal obstruction, and rhinological secretion.... In patients with acute nonpurulent rhinosinusitis, timely treatment with cineole [a.k.a. eucalyptol... found in eucalyptus, camphor laurel, laurus nobilis, tea tree, mugwort, basil, wormwood, rosemary, sage, and cannabis] is effective and safe before antibiotics are indicated."Link

In vitro studies characterized Helichrysum as an antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory agent. Its flavonoids and terpenes were effective against bacteria (e.g. Staphylococcus aureus), its acetophenones, phloroglucinols and terpenoids displayed antifungal action against Candida albicans and its flavonoids and phloroglucinols inhibited HSV and HIV, respectively.... Regarding Helichrysum italicum in vivo activity, the highlight goes to ...the anti-inflammatory properties exhibited by its flavonoids, acetophenones and phloroglucinols, as seen in animal models."Link
