A couple of days ago I awoke with a white spot on my nipple. I am breastfeeding my son, and found out this spot is caused by a blocked milk duct, which occurs from skin inside the breast growing over it. It was a bit painful to touch and hurt while he fed from that side.

The advice I received from the Australian Breastfeeding Association was to use a warm compress before feeding, in hope that it would dislodge during the feed. I could also try rubbing it gently with the cloth, which hurt and did not work! They advised that if it did not dislodge soon, to go to a GP and get it removed with medical tweezers, before the milk behind it got too backed up.

I have been using YL oils for a couple for months, so I looked up some of my resources and initially tried lavender for the rest of that day. I put a drop on a cotton bud and applied it to the spot several times but it didn't seem to be helping. Before bed that night I switched to Purification, applying it the same way (I washed it off before breastfeeding).

The next morning it felt a bit better so I kept going with Purification all day, applying it every couple of hours. I could feel it was improving, and by last night it was hardly visible. This morning it is gone, there is no pain and my milk is flowing freely!
