Warning: Not all essential oil brands are the same quality. If you expect to achieve results similar to those described in this testimonial, then ensure that the oil you are using is made from pesticide-free plants grown in optimal conditions. Also, the brand should be a 100% pure, high-quality essential oil that does not contain any synthetic additives. Do your own research or ask trusted friends to find a brand that is reputable.

This last weekend, I went camping up in the mountains outside Ouray, Colorado... absolutely gorgeous by the way! Before the trip, people had told me to be sure to take bug spray.

I had heard about the oils being good repellants, so I thought I would try it. I had a small can of OFF, but have tried to avoid using harsh chemical products for quite some time. I took it as a back up in case my concoction didn't work.

I used a 2-3 oz spray bottle and mixed the following:

1 Tbsp EVERCLEAR (90 proof pure grain alcohol)
25 drops Purification
10 drops Idaho Balsam Fir
8 drops Thieves
7 drops Frankincense
5 drops Lavender
and then filled the rest with filtered water.

There were swarms of bugs around us, but they didn't land on us, and pretty soon they started to leave the area, so... not one single bug bite!!

I even sprayed the dog all over, including just on the inside of her ears. I sprayed a bug that was crawling on her (I think it was a tick, but not sure), and watched it squirm and fall to the ground. Fabulous! The dog did not have any problems either.

We had to spray ourselves twice a day, but we were very pleased and pleasantly surprised at how well it actually worked. The best part is knowing that I'm not poisoning myself while repelling insects!
