Easing pain from a burn on hand

I was making caramels one evening. The candy thermometer stopped registering the temperature at a certain point and as a result the candy was cooked to a very thick state. While pouring the mixture onto a plate, I dropped the pan and ended up with a palm full of boiling caramel candy. Screaming in pain didn't help. Running cold water over my hand for the intense pain didn't help, either, as the candy mixture was so thick it hardened the outer layer of candy and sealed in the heat.

After finally getting the candy scraped off my hand, someone poured Lava Derm into a small bowl and I literally soaked my hand in it very often during the evening. It helped diminish the pain to a tolerable level. I also applied lavender oil, neat, quite often. The next morning the area of the burn was a slightly lighter color than the skin around it, but best of all there was no more pain! I wouldn't be without LavaDerm and Lavender oil and gave it to each of my family in gift baskets recently. Thank You, Young Living for these wonderful oils!!
