Our 8-year-old daughter came to me one evening, and asked me to look at a sore place on her leg. I immediately recognized it as a brown recluse spider bite, as my husband had been bitten several years ago.
I began looking up information in my essential oils reference book, which mentions the Thieves and Purification oil blends, Thyme, Wintergreen, Frankincense, and Peppermint as well. I also called a friend to see if she had more information that I might need. I knew this could be bad!
My friend told me to use Basil to neutralize the bite. I began using Basil first on the bite, then Lavender, Purification, Frankincense, Thieves, Wintergreen and Peppermint, and continued to apply to her bite every 15 minutes until it was her bedtime.
I had her lay in my bed, and applied oils several more times before I went to bed. Peppermint applied last helps all other oils penetrate deeper into the tissue and body.
By the next morning, the bite was not as swollen or red as the night before. We continued applying oils several more times through the day, and on into the 3rd day. Each day we saw marked improvement!
By the 4th and 5th day, I put oils on twice, and then that was all. The bite quickly disappeared, with no scabbing, scarring or skin decay as we saw with my husband's bite!
There were other oils mentioned in the essential oils reference book, but the Basil and others mentioned are what I had on hand, and had GREAT success with them!
