Lavender sends cornea scratch away

My horse had an eye swollen and painful and upon checking him, I could see 3 curved scratches on his cornea. I've scratched my eyes before and know how badly it hurts. Usually in a day it would feel better, but I'd never seen the scratches in my eye. These scratches were easily visable. I took a couple of drops of lavender and smoothed them around the orbit bone and hoped for the best. That was at feed (supper) time and next morning when I checked on him, hoping the eye would be better and not swollen and sore, there he was, Both eyes all bright and shiney and happy! No scratches to be seen, discomfort left somewhere in the night. We love lavender.
