My experience with depression and essential oils

For me, depression has been a challenging thing to deal with. Here I'm just speaking for myself; everyone has to decide for themselves what works best.
After taking anti-depressants for some years, I decided that I wanted to stop. Just then, my friend happened to call to tell me about her essential oils business. When we put essential oils in my drinking water, I felt energized like I hadn't felt in a long time. Speaking for myself, the oils are a better way to go. I am in the process of cleansing from the anti-depressants. For information about these matters, I read Dr. Ann Blake Tracy's book, Prozac: Panacea or Pandora? and information on the website www.drugawareness.org.
The scents of essential oils give them a unique advantage in helping with a major problem: self-neglect, which means that I become oblivious to my own needs. The bottles of oils sitting on the table almost call to me with their fragrances, reminding me to take care of myself. And during the day, the scents I am wearing are also reminders.
For me, essential oils are a much better way to support my mood. Sometimes anxiety arises before the low mood starts. I find the blend Sacred Mountain very comforting. I also use Valor or Peace and Calming for the anxiety, to try to prevent my mood from shifting to depression. Grounding and Hope are comforting oil blends to use when I feel down. Release and Forgiveness help me to let go of feeling bad about the fact that I have a problem with depression. Sensation and Joy boost my mood, too.
How do I use oils? Sometimes I just inhale them. Other times I put them on my solar plexus or chest or on the soles of my feet and the reflexology points for the brain, on the inside of the big toes. Or I put an oil like peppermint or a citrus oil in my drinking water.
As for supplements, I like Longevity capsules. They contain orange oil, which, along with other citrus oils, can support mood. I believe the other oils in this supplement are also helpful.
I feel that essential oils boost my mood and energy level. After feeling so low and moving so slow, it's great to have energy! I often feel motivated and happier. I even sometimes go around the house singing to myself and joke around more.
I can't say I've overcome depression, but now I have a way to deal with it that is actually quite pleasant and doesn't have harmful side-effects.
