Reducing Fevers and Congestion Discomfort

Recently my daughter caught a bug. She ran a very high fever for one day, was run down for two days with congestion and a cough. Her fever came back the third day and then went away and she had a persistent cough for about two weeks.

For her fever, we gave her a bath with lavendar mixed with epsom salts dissolved in the water. She loved how relaxed it made her feel and it reduced her fever by at least one degree each time (about 3x total). We also diffused peppermint to help with the fever while she was sleeping.

For congestion we used RC applied to the chest frequently. She sneezed constantly and would release clear mucous every time for several days. I knew the RC was working because otherwise it would have stayed in her sinus cavity and created an infection. We also diffused it in her room while she was sleeping.

We didn't use over the counter medications one time and didn't take her to the doctor or ER. With H1N1 a huge concern, I didn't want her to catch it in the waiting room or for the doctor to push the vaccine on her, so I was so glad to avoid having to take her in.

I am thankful for the oils, and will continue to learn so I can help my family stay healthy. It feels so nice to have control over our own health!
