Skin issue with black threads emerging

I noted that near my navel, there was a tan spot, which over a few months was enlarging. I had no identification for it, but thought of Oregano. I used a round, pointed toothpick after putting the Oregano on the area, to poke about on it, not piercing the skin. I read about doing this to increase the effectiveness of Oregano when applying it to warts.

In a day or 2, I noticed black spots appearing in the area. Then, to my surprise, the black spots begin to emerge, and looked exactly like black hairs in diameter. But if I tweezed on them, they were definitely firmly attached. 'Don't pull' was the signal I got! So I waited. The black 'hairs', really more like skin, grew out to about 1/16 inch, then fell off. This continued, with new crops of 'hair' every few days, so there were always some in process. After about 3 months of mostly daily applications, no more hairs came. The tan spot went away. I kept applying for awhile, then quit.

2 years later, the tan spot started showing up again. This time I started Oregano immediately. I got more black 'hairs', and then, after a couple weeks, they seemed to have quit.

I've looked on the internet and talked to people, and still don't know what kind of condition this is. A dermatologist might now. I had suspected it was cancerous, but might not be. I thought of the black dots seen in warts, the 'seeds' of the wart, and wondered if there was a similarity. There might be, because some warts in other areas of my body diminished or disappeared during this treatment.

Only a specific type of wart was affected though (besides the main one I treated), and that was flat warts near joints. I've had them on knuckles, elbows and knees for years. Anyone with further knowledge about this, I'd like to know further, especially about the one that grew these strange black 'hairs'.
