Note: Not all essential oil brands are the same, and you get what you pay for. A drop of Joy on the heart does wonders for balancing the heart chakra in the face of grief. I apply it just beneath clothing, as it's photosensitive when exposed to sunlight. Within minutes I find that the grief has eased, and balance has returned. Harmony is another excellent oil to use, with a drop applied on the various chakras (I usually put a few drops in my hand, and distribute them between the various chakras).

In case you don't know where these are, here's an explanation:

1. Base chakra (at base of spine, near lower sacrum)
2. Sexual chakra (a few inches below navel)
3. Solar Plexus chakra (a few inches above navel)
4. Heart chakra (near heart, but in centre of chest rather than off to the left)
5. Throat chakra (centre of throat)
6. Third Eye chakra (between eyebrows and up a couple of centimetres)
7. Crown chakra (top of head)

Harmony helps to balance the chakras, and return the "being" to a state of harmony. Peace & Calming is also a good blend to apply to the shoulders or under the feet for calming distress, and helping sleep. The other oil I like to use is White Angelica - this helps to seal the aura, creating a feeling of gentle protection in the face of vulnerability.

Another excellent combination for grief, especially where the feelings are deeply traumatic, is a drop of Rose oil and a drop of Onycha over the heart chakra. This combination is amazing! It's deeply soothing and nurturing.
