Although I have read from my aromatherapy book to dilute essential oils before applying, another book says no dilution for some oils. I massage peppermint oil on my throat and feet when I am catching a cold and it helps to stop the cold. I also rub peppermint oil on the back of my neck, neet; it tingles, feels good and helps me sleep.
