This recipe includes yellow mustard powder.

In studies involving the gastrointestinal tract and colorectal cancer, intake of isothiocyanates, found in mustard, have been shown to inhibit growth of existing cancer cells and to be protective against their formation.

Mustard seeds also qualified as a very good source of omega-3 fatty acids, selenium, iron, calcium, zinc, manganese, magnesium, protein, niacin and dietary fiber.

Goitrogens in mustard may inhibit thyroid function~ avoid consuming large amounts if you have an untreated, under active thyroid.

I recommend fresh ground mustard powder from the local health food store (like Vitamin Cottage) or herb shop, not the kind thats been sitting on the shelf for...who knows how long. Your nose will tell you whats good, fresh mustard is very pungent. If you have mustard seeds, they may be ground in the food processor, coffee grinder, or if you're old school~ the mortar and pestle may be used.

1 cup sea salt
6 drops lavender
6 drops basil
4 drops rosemary
4 eucalyptus
2 drops thyme
2 drop oregano (use less thyme and oregano for fair/sensitive skin)
1-2 heaping tbs powdered yellow mustard

Mix well and add to bath.

~INVIGORATING!~

Poultice for chest cold...

add 1-2 tbs of mixing oil (v-6, coconut, almond or palm seed) and mix into a paste. you may pack this poultice on the chest while in a hot bath to relieve cold symptoms. also works great for sore muscles, stress ect...

More about mustard~

Buddha told a story of the grieving mother and the mustard seed. When a mother loses her only son, she takes his body to the Buddha to find a cure. The Buddha asks her to bring a handful of mustard seeds from a family that has never lost a child, husband, parent or friend. When the mother is unable to find such a house in her village, she realizes that death is common to all, and she cannot be selfish in her grief.

In the Quran, Allah states that the scales of justice will be established on the Day of Judgment, and no soul will suffer the least injustice. Even the equivalent of a mustard seed will be accounted for. God is the most efficient reckoner.

Jesus compares the Kingdom of Heaven to a mustard seed in Mark 4:30-32. Mustard has some of the smallest seeds, but the mustard plant grows to a large size, providing shelter for birds. So great things come from small beginnings.

Jesus reminds us that nothing is impossible if we have faith the size of a mustard seed in Mattew 17:20.
