I have had two professional pedicures in my life, and will probably quit while I'm ahead! The first was before my wedding. My toe got so infected that I had to take antibiotics during my honeymoon. I chaulked it up to the stress of wedding preparations. The second pedicure was given to me for my birthday, and again, I got an infection and took antibiotics. Next, I decided to give myself a pedicure, and be extra careful of cleanliness - again, infection, pain and swelling! This time, I soaked my foot in hot water with sea salt, and applied lavender and oregano oil to the area, several times a day. Within a few days, the infection came to a head and cleared, and I was pain-free and well! Here's what I learned from the experience: Think oils first!
