Cleaning up well water supply

One of my midwifery clients wanted to have a home water birth but when we had her test her water it had bacteria in it. The state agency suggested pouring two gallons of bleach in her well but that was not acceptable to her. I suggested trying it with a bottle of Oregano. Her house smelled a little funny when she turned on all the faucets to draw it through the system but the next test was clear of all bacteria.
