My son, Hasan is 8 years old now. He was suffering from otitis media with effusion (also called glue ear) since he was 6 months. We had to take him to the doctor for one ear infection after another. Nothing could clear them up. He had tube operations twice when he was 1 and 1 1/2 years old. Even when he still had them and after slipped out, he kept getting sick, especially during the winter months, it was like a ritual. Every week, we had to go to doctor and got another set of medicines, mostly very strong antibiotics. I didn't give him Sudafed because I tried it before and suspected that it is the culprit behind my daughter's seizure when she was 4 years old.
Finally doctor said he hopefully will grow out of it when he gets older and there is nothing else to do other than what we already did. He reccomended another surgery. But since tubes didn't work before, it didn't sound like a solution to us.
I began to think there is no cure on this ailment. When I was about to lose my hope, my friend recommended essential oils. I told her I didn't believe in magic wands anymore. But I decided to try anyway since there is no side effect. I applied Lavender oil behind his ears, on his neck and under the sole of his feet every night. At the same time I heard and read about using breastmilk for the treatment of ear infections from various sources (It sounded wierd at first of course but with the same logic, I gave it a shot). So I put a few drops of breastmilk every 2 hours along with the lavender application. They worked like magic for him. Lavender even solved the accumulated fluid behind his eardrum along with the recurrent infections.
My youngest daughter also followed the same pattern like her brother afterwards when she was 5 months old. When she started to have recurrent ear infections (twice), I did the same regiment for her too. Bingo! She got rid of it immediately and never had it since (almost 2 years).
Now I remember with sorrow how I used huge amounts of antibiotics for my precious son before I knew about essential oils and how powerful natural remedies could be.
