Lavender relieved my hangnail

I noticed a sore spot on my ring finger to the side of my fingernail. I had been biting at it to get rid of a bothersome hangnail, and when I finally pulled it off my finger was red and swollen (a condition that usually leads to an infection for me and then a need to lance the area to relieve it). I had some lavender oil so I put a drop on it and went to bed for a few hours before going to work. When I got up it was only slightly uncomfortable, so I put one more drop on it. By the end of my shift, it felt perfectly fine.
