Cat anxiety & odor

This testimonial I owe to a vet named Mary who uses essential oils in her practice.
My cat Jackson was spraying around the house, and I was at my wits end, thinking I'd have to have him put to sleep. My regular vet suggested Prozac, but Mary suggested a combination of essential oils to quiet the cat's anxiety, which is the usual cause of cat spraying. (She did say that if a cat is really nuts, she does suggest Prozac for a very short period of time.)
She gave me this mix: 1 tbs. V6, mixed with 3 drops each Peace & Calming, Valerian, Lavendar, Ylang Ylang, Vertiver & Petitgrain. Start with one of these essential oils and add 1 or more over time. My experience is that a couple of these is sufficient. Spread the mix on the cats paw pads, between toes, and on inner ear flaps 2-3 times/day. I do it 1-2 times/day.
As best I can tell, Jackson is no longer spraying. He does whine when I pick him up to put on the oils, but he calms down once I put them on. Mary also suggested diffusing Peace & Calming a couple times a day.
To eliminate the smell of the cat spray on the carpet, mix 10 drops Purification and 10 drops Melrose into a bottle of Thieves Spray. Spray on spot until odor clears. It really eliminates the odor!
