Animals often are under stress just like humans. Stress manifests itself in many ways. A healthy pet can become very unhealthy and not themselves if the stress is not addressed. Often the veterinarian is contacted to help in this circumstance. Medication is often prescribed but not without side effects. Being a veterinarian and wanting an alternative method to deal with this problem I found essential oils. I have found in stress situations that the two oils I use most are Peace & Calming and Trama Life. Peace & Calming is used in general stress such as new environment, new family member, travel or vacation whileas Trama Life is used in cases of family loss, abuse, tramatic event such as a tornado, hurricane, fire. Owners have said that the pet is calm, appetite improves, wants to play as ususal, and generally is happy after the diffusing of these oils. Owners have said they have felt better as well and the stress is decreased for them. In the long run a peaceful owner results in a more calm pet. Pets get many cues from their owners. In summary essential oils are a valuable addition to holistic animal care and should be used as a first defense against the stress of everyday life.
